So I've played just about every MMO under the sun and none have given me the feeling that i got back when i played DAoC in the glory days. Decided to give MMO's a break for a while.

Anyone know of good medieval single player rpg game with a good plot and character customization like baldur's gate or a tactical strategy game like fire emblem. Preferably downloadable online.

edit: sorry if this is in the wrong place... if theres another place i shud put this just tell me.

Drakensang the dark eye might interest you, similar to D&D, its based around a certain ruleset that is very popular in germany. Takes some reading online and the manual to understand completely at first

Game plays like NWN2 kind of, except a bit harder, and requires more player input rather than just letting the dice roll. Good story, tons of interaction, and more than enough customization.

The Last Remnant is a tactical turn based strategy fantasy game. The story is meh at first, but later in the game it gets deeper. The battle system is what really caught my attention, you give orders to warbands and then get to watch the battle play out very cinematically.

Individual character customization is lacking a bit, however you can recruit tons of different characters into your party and upgrade several different formations, so their are plenty of choices when it comes to building your union.

edit: Both can be bought online and downloaded on Steam.

 The Witcher springs to mind.
