In beta at the moment and when GG runs, you WILL have to shutdown your antivirus or else, you will get crashed out, processes get memory crashes as GG thinks AV software is helping you hack.

Basically its down to, What is GG actually scanning a Virusscanner and stopping it work if its really legit?

does any other anti cheat software require AV software to be removed before playing

I been running Aion with PC-illan turned on with no problems. In the past i had some issues with Norton and gaming, cant recall what they were right off.

It has to be true, i have internet links.

I'm using Norton, I have 0 issues.

Edit: Panda is a freeware Antivirus thing, I would not be suprised if because of its nature it was suspect by the GameGuard program.

just because you 2 have posted saying there is no issues, then why is the tech forum flooded with GG issues and virusscanners?

Do i need to copy and paste them just to prove their IS AN ISSUE

I think GG is what is crashing some kind of command line thing AVG runs, but that is minor.

it only seems that avast and a few others are having problems. It can't be gameguard due to that my friend can go on Phantasy Star Universe but can't go on Aion. People on the beta boards are saying that the NCSoft launcher is screwing with the gameguard and making it so certain anti-viruses won't work with the game.

Yes I'm sure they'll sell you something if you want to, Panda has been used for a long long time as a free ware anti virus program.

I know I've been doing tech support for a long time, son.

Probably before you could type.

Panda has been well known to cause conflicts of this nature with DSL mailing programs too, so guess what, its probably your horrible AV software.

That one is right, but only very few of them get my Rundll32.exe to crash constantly. I'm not willing to reduce the security level of my security programs.

Before I do that I will stop playing. The game starts to get being unplayable anyway. If I am not able to talk to NPCs without having to switch from the error to the game about 20 times for each NPC, if I am not able to start locating my next NPC, if I am not able to switch to the next mob without having to switch form the error to the game several times --- I will die or I will not play the game.

I run the Avira Antivir free programm and I run Spybot Search & Destroy.

I repeat: I will not accept to stop or to turn down my security. I am not against you running a hack protection, but I am fully opposed to any of YOUR protection to harm MY protection.

So far I NEVER got an answer to similar posts on other game boards. I am a good customer cause I have legally bought all the games that I am playing. I have invested heavily into your games in order to upgrade your and my games. If you are not able to protect MY investment into your games while you try to protect your intellectual property, I don't care to look at your games and your offers anymore.
There are other offers out there. I don't have to stick up with a rootkit-like behaviour.

then please pop over to the tech forum and explain to everyone else its NOT Gameguard, or the virus scanner,

So you explain why their beta keeps crashing

another comment worth posting....

Gameguard routinely shuts down bits of Kaspersky without my input. I've found a workaround thanks to some of the information on these boards but I'm annoyed to have to do so. If NCsoft are determined to keep Gameguard they should at least make sure it works with popular security software. Shutting down core parts of my internet security without my say so is not acceptable.

I have no idea why theirs doesn't work, and don't really care. Just saying I use Avast and never had an issue at all with Gameguard in Aion, or any other game that uses it.

I use it as well never had issues with Aion, however in PSU I did have a lot of problems with GG while using both Avast, and then taking that off and putting AVG in. Maybe its something to do with the game client itself?

Panda is utter garbage for MMO's period.

I work on a MMO and we had to advise our portugeuse and Brazilian user's (for some reason Panda is really popular in those locations) against its use as its a intrusive piece of rubbish and would often overwrite unblocked ports or not allow patching or worst case scenario  our anticheat measures would pick Panda up as being a potential bot its so intrusive.

I use Avira free edition and no issues whatsoever I strongly advise getting rid of Panda.

Try a real AV and maybe you wont have any problems.  Using Kapersky with Vista here and no issues at all.  Have two friends using xp and one has Kapersky, the other McAfee and they aren't having any problems either.

Avast user here... no issues at all.  If you have EA's patching program open by chance....with the little green icon on your windows taskbar..turn it off.  Gamegaurd didn't like that in the past for me when playing other games.

I've been playing the Chinese release and EU beta on Vista x64 with Eset's NOD32 anti-virus. No problems at all with either the game client or GameGuard.  Sorry that I don't have any workarounds or other suggestions for you.
