Because of there is no lengthy tutorial system for new players, I imagine that many people don't enjoy darkfall in their first hours or days(not saying that is the only problem). There is not that much information given as newbies are thrust into a world that seems empty and boring. Therefore any new players can pm me ingame for any help/questions. Maybe some free armor/weapons/gold to get you started if you travel to the jungles of yssam and join a clan that I live with. IGN - nuclear terrorist

There is a extenisve help guide that serves as the DFO handbook.  Anyways, there is also blogs out there with some guides that will ne added to in the future. Just google it I can't advertise it here.

Why dont you tell those lazt ass devs to actually create one. even if it starts out poor, the community will make it better. CCp has been doing it with eve all these years, perfecting their tutorial system. They quite nailed it.  Tasos should spend some time on makeing a simple tutorial even if its fucking text.

Start a suggestion thread. Put all your ideas on what would be best to let new players know so they can be retained.

you know you need those new players, those = more population, targets and money to keep the game alive.

If they refuse to do one. well give it a year or 2 and darkfall will be buried right next to dark and light.

Logged my first 4 hours or so and so far its a blast! I did seem to attract some dude that kept killing me even though we are both Human. Then he asks me why he is Evil and how to quit being it! At least he wasent being an ass about it, just the way he plays I guess. Must be too Hardcore to kill the Enemy LOL!

eve vs darkfall is not the discussion. The man made a nice jesture to folks and regardless of popular opinion of DF thread should be kept that way.

I just saw someone create a similar thread on DF forums, I wonder if he was inspired by this thread xD

That said, with the recent patch, apparently AV is trying to add some of the things the players have asked for. So, maybe a more involved tutorial system is on the way. In the absence of such a system, it's pretty cool to see someone representing the DF community in a positive light. It would be interesting to see if enough like-minded people can pull off something along the lines of Eve University...you know...just more hardcore and all that....

I work evenings so I get off at 11PM CST. Usually on by Midnight or so. Getting ready to log on now. Prolly have to stick around Monkhold (sp?) for a few more days to skill up before trying to make it to Yssam!

The reason I found that funny was I used to get such a kick out of new players in UO that would be asking the same thing, usually while/after running for their lives. This happened a lot outside of Delucia, where they would run around and kill the Shepards.

The reason I found that funny was I used to get such a kick out of new players in UO that would be asking the same thing, usually while/after running for their lives. This happened a lot outside of Delucia, where they would run around and kill the Shepards. 

Yeah what happened was that I hit him a couple of times on accident and went Grey then he got all mad and killed me when I was working on another mob.  Then when I did my corpse run he got me again before I got to it (should have Rested first). Then I guess he tried to get back into Monkfield Bank and got zapped by towers! Of course I looted his corpse, got my stuff back plus some of his stuff (all crappy noob stuff) then he sends me a tell asking me if we can call it a truce! I said Sure since you started it, then he asked me how to "Stop being evil" (i.e. turn back to Blue) and I say Stop killing me for a start! It was quite funny in a wierd way. Its better to be Ganked by a clueless noob than a group of tw@s that likes to camp at the Starter Goblin areas!

If you see Pong Lenis (yes thats his IGN) whack him a few times then ask him "How do i stop being Evil"!

More of that kind of stuff, and less of the over-zealous fanboi talk would go a long ways in helping DarkFall overcome the stigma that it currently has.  There are only a handful that have done a very good job at giving DarkFall it's reputation.  If more DarkFall players would post stuff like what you did there... who knows... DarkFall might have a future yet.

On second thought... Tasos still has to go.  He is the leader of those who have given DarkFall it's sullied name.   Just as AoC's reputation improved dramatically once Guate was "let go"; DarkFall would improve drastically by getting rid of Tasos.

Wow Pong Lenis, that was my former clanmate before I left the clan awful company. We played for several months and fought in the wars that included major alliances. I wonder if he left AC also since he is in a starter town. And to answer your previous questions, the friends list is annoying imo so I don't use it. I just send a /tell to the person that I wanted to talk to. If you don't already know how to send a pm here is what you type: /tell "firstname" "lastname" "yourmessage" without the signs. Are you sure you are ready for Yssam? There are less new players around here since it is far from the starting towns and has all player owned cities and no guard towers to protect you from reds. I will get on later and tomorrow to see if you are on, Ozzy Mcfly is the name correct? I'll busy for a couple of hours.
