Go take a look at some games that you thought looked good upon release thatt were released around WoW. They look terrible now. Im not a fan of WoW or the effect it has had on MMO's but the graphics have held up better than that of other games that were released around the same time. Its like Legend of Zelda Wind Waker. When we first saw that we all were like wtf? but if you go back now that game still looks amazing. The point im getting at is that we play MMO's for years and with stylized or cartoony graphics it looks good for a much longer period of time. BUt seriously this game needs soem work on those models before relase. U G L Y you aint got no alibi you ugly well not so polished as of now. -Gosh you're cute. Wanna buy a monkey? |

Personally I like the way that the graphics for the game are coming along, as of the last video posted. Was a little worried that it might be one of those games that require a significant computer upgrade however with the more stylized graphics not only are they able to differntiate themselves from other games they will hopefully be able to take a page from Blizzards book and have their game adequately playable on a wide variety of system configurations. |

Star Wars Galaxies was out before WoW with realistic styled graphics and I think that game still looks fairly good even by today's standards. I can tell you that I would rather play with aged realistic styled graphics than spanking new stylized graphics, that is for sure. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

People complain about realistic graphics, see Fallout 3, Oblivion etc. Characters look fugly, apart from some individually created NPC's. That is the real kicker to make a good looking realistic game an inordinate amount of time is required making individuals look good, which is much quicker to do in a stylised environment. If you wanted the amount of detail this game has crammed into a realistic environment, don't expect to see it release before 2015 at the earliest. Or have content drastically cut.
The only reason a game like AoC and similar games could do a decent effort in a reasonably short time. Is by skimping on other aspects of the game, as well as drastically cutting down environment size, AoC is not a seamless world, and its environments are relatively small.
Then again I see no reason to complain, at least the characters look better than the Clone Wars series =P |

Well first of all WOW NEVER looked good not from day 1.when i joined WOW several weeks after Eq2 came out,i knew right away that game was junk,a poor effort to say the least. No there was no big numbers for WOW yet,i was not following any masses it was plain to see with my own eyes. Cartoon graphics will NEVER look good ...EVER ! because they have such low detail ,low quality.I think many WOW people who think WOW looks decent are mistaking clearity with good looks. The graphics were done to look clean no jagged edges like older games for that era,but the quality of the textures used and the lack of detail on the models and objects is just bad. As to the new Star Wars game, not only the models look awful but once again the lack of detail like they all have George Jetson glued on hair dos.The entire game looks bad, they can do al lthe voice acting and puts lots of game content into the game, but Graphics really "DO" matter a ton more than people think they do. Graphics did not matter 10+ years ago because all the graphics were bad, this is why EQ2 was so ground breaking,so it was all about game play, because that was ALL they had going for them.By now a days standards, there is no excuse for lack of detail anymore,or at least games can keep the polys down by using the same old low quality for the ground/sky,the rest of the game i expect decent looking quality. If EQ2 could pull off decent graphics, actually above grade quality 6 years ago and needing only a 1.5 ghz machine with Win98,then ALL of the developers should be able to at least meet those standards or better. The one true game we all had hoped for may still be held back becuse design already started 4+ years ago and that is FFXIV.It will be a Dx9 game no doubt,so that leaves very few big developers that can deliver a top notch game with top notch graphics. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

I think the "stylized" models look horrid and I can see is I will not be playing SWTOR unless they change the models or there is some armor throughout the game that just covers up those disgusting avatars. "...these forums are like soap operas"-Nihce |
