Nice post fanboy!

and yes according to the info i've read on the forums you're paying 20$ (or 15$) of beta worth + 75$ game+shipping

Anyhow.... did you comprehend the post, read it, analize it? or just felt the sudden urge to burst your fanboy flag.

Nice post failboy!

Sub Fees are:

14.25€ (Euro) for EU players.

14.25$ (Dollar) for US players (and everybody else who is not an EU citizen).

You do NOT pay any fees or get charged while the game is in Beta whatsoever.

The price of 75$ for the BOXED version already INCLUDES the shipping fees to ANY location worldwide.

There WILL be a DD version which should be slightly cheaper than most MMOs that release with Digital Download.

Did you comprehend the post?

You did not even bother to take a SINGLE look at the MO store i guess?

And no i did not preorder so spare me your "fanboy" rambling..but at least lets rephrase correct information shall we?

*sigh*

Just keep beliving that  =)

Over and out, won't waste more posting space arguing over a lost casue.

I just shared my concern, i expected a decent answer like the other guy with some sort of in depth analisis. But heh... you go on and get lost between lines of shipping costs, and the over inflated price for a non-finished product. Wich still is in beta.

I "believe" in nothing i just quote the information as it is now from the official source for you. No point in having a debate about wrong information. I guess that is important to everybody here.

And yes your concern is valid as it is a beta product but the choice is yours to make as it is with any other product you do not trust.  People tend to have pretty crazy priorities and views when it comes to matters of entertainment. Again there is no point in having a debate about personal choices.

What kind of "in-depth analysis" do you expect...do the homework yourself? Maybe try to read? Judging from your elitist behavior (no offense) there is no point in going into one anyways because so far you just slapped of every argument as "fanboyish" or a matter of "believe".

And pulling back from arguing just because you have no arguments left under the cloak of "i know better anyways you idiot" is pretty weak for someone who asks for an "in-depth analysis".

You just hide behind your monitor having a good laugh while trolling don`t you?

I've never seen an MMO that was considered "finished". They typically keep changing and adding to it throughout it's lifetime. Sometimes making changes so huge, it completely wipes out work the company did before launch.

The fan-base wanted a box and CE edition, so when SV made them available, they passed the cost of production directly to the consumer.

Please remember that the boxed versions include shipping (€7 worldwide) and for all Europeans you must pay 25% VAT. The box is a huge cost for us as we are forced to put that cost on the customer, meaning we do not earn anything more over the normal rate. We did this because there was a demand from the community and we listened. EU laws force us to add 25% VAT on all European costumers, unfortunately this must be put on the customers payment which indeed make the game a bit pricy for all Europeans. This is your choice to buy the boxed version or not. We did it because the community wanted one and we do agree it get a bit expensive, unfortunately we cannot sell these boxes with a loss.

http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/16381-mortal-online-shop-information.html

The monthly subscription cost of Mortal Online will be €14.25 for Europeans and $14.25 for everybody else. This cost is subject to change.

The monthly subscription cost includes all future updates and expansions for Mortal Online. No additional costs will be charged for future expansions.

The Beta server is located in Stockholm, Sweden. It's fully possible to access the server from all countries; however we obviously can't guarantee the speed and performance over long distances. Earlier Beta-testing has shown good, playable ping from the U.S. for instance, but please remember that the speed of your local network provider in U.S. is an important factor as well.

Additional game servers, including servers in other countries, are considered for the near future. There will be no extra costs involved in starting a character on one of those servers if and when they are up. However, character transfers will not be possible, at least not to begin with, not even between servers in the same country.

What make MO pricey is is how the compagny didn't make it mass produced. Compagny like funcom and Blizzard ect have way more money then a new compagny trying to break the MMORPG place. To me, MO is one of the compagny who try to make their dream become reality by making their dream game alive.

Obviously, money doesn't drop form tree (actually it's does it's paper!) so, once they're money run out ( which seme like it did) they need to get some. So they sold their game pre-maturely  with pre-order giving the player beta access ( so they can enjoy the game sooner) and finish the game within the delay.

If you find the game is to pricey now, don't buy it and wait. but please, stop crying.

Dont give me the small company bid. ID software was a very small company and release a game breaking revolutionary product for free via shareware. Anyone remember shareware? Now if you give people like the first few levels and then if they want more pay and sign up well then my friend that means you really believe in your product.

This is sounds Sneaky like its not finished.

Id software released a game that was less than 1.44MB big  as shareware. It was a single player game, no server overhead, no engine licensing fees and this was more than a decade ago, things have changed, horrible analogy.

analogy, fecalogy...

Bottom line is that they are charging people full price to help test and fix their game which is luda.. There are plenty of volunteers that would donate their time and effort to finding bugs and etc.. But asking people to PAY to do that is absurd..

Edit: Would you ask a volunteer fire fighter to pay you 75 bucks before putting out a fire in your house? Its his job and he wants to help you, but you charge him anyway?

You pay for the house without fire damage. Like you pay for the 'completish' game at LAUNCH by pre ordering now. Playing the beta when the game is in an unfinsihed state is just a bonus.

In your analogy that would come down to getting to ride along on the fire truck and having the opportunity to do some fire extinguishing yourself!

Ok here's a couple of things to ponder.  SV is an indie company that has a niche market and therefore don't have a sweatshop in China somwhere who will box and ship their games at a huge discount, i.e. EA, Blizz.  The boxes are all Metal Embossed boxes and hince even the reg. version would be considered an LE for most games.

Lets look at how much more you are really paying for a boxed version compared to an xbox360 game at a store.  Xbox 360 game will cost you 60$ US at any store i have been to unless it's used.  Boxed version for MO was 75$ US and that included shipping and a metal emossed box.  Shipping was around 7-10$, so in reality you are only paying 5-8$ more than a 360 game.  I mean hell look at the LE edition of Halo2, it was like 115$ to buy and i got my LE for 98$.

All i am saying is it's not really that expensive when you look at the details.  Either you think it's worth it to buy and get into beta or you don't and you get the DD which is going to be cheaper than DF.

This thread cracks me up, mostly since the title is way off, only thing he got right was 75$ for normal boxed.  It's 98$ for LE retard and 14.25$ a month and it's called loot bag version.

Either way, buy it or don't, that's your decision but i'll be in game on Mon. enjoying myself.  I mean seriously complaining about the price, i spend that much on pointless shit like drinking and dinner all the fucking time.  At least after purchasing this i won't have a massive hangover the next morning.

This is NOT a Xbox 360 game... computer games are ALWAYS $10 cheaper than the xbox 360...

PC = $49.99

Xbox 360 = $59.99

Don't try and compare the two as computer games in general are easier to distribute because they are not on encoded dvds / blu-ray like consoles...  it cost them more money to make the disk...

Care to elaborate why does it cost more to make a DVD/Blue-ray for consoles rather than for the PC, as a game developer I am actually quite intrigued? The only valid point would be the PSP since Sony does not authorize anyone except them to create the MDs and theya re quite expensive but we are not talking about PSP so please care to elaborate.

Normal PC games come on regular dvds.  Console games come on different types, encoded for their purposes.  A Xbox 360 dvd disk cost more than a regular disk...

All I am saying is, you can't compare PC game prices with console prices as the dvd used to burn the image to the disk cost more money...   So people can't say that $75 for MO is just like buying a console game thats around $60....

So your saying for them to run the same encryption program on the software to burn and then just make 1million copies of it like you would on a normal DVD makes it alot more expensive? Or are you saying that the disk itself is actually different that Microsoft invented a new type of DVD (couldnt be called dvd since there is a patent on this) ?

Xbox 360 games use a XDVDFS image and are encrypted but the DVD is no different than your regular DVD the difference is they will burn it with an encrypted image which can only be read with the samsung 616T/F firmware, it does not cost them a penny more to produce a million xbox dvd's besides just being plain greedy and asking for more money.

The dvd the xbox 360 uses is a dual-layer dvd (used with xbox 360 so it can read to play the games)  The ps3 uses blu-ray

lol do you actually know that mega-corps like Sony and Microsoft have their own DVD duplication factories? Hell Sony even produces blank DVDs themselves! They literally poop out copies and i am pretty sure it costs them almost nothing in comparison to a single 10k duplication run.

Yet their Games are still more expensive?! Hmmmm...your logic intrigues me. Maybe THEY ARE in fact overpriced!

And WTF has the content of the disc (encryption?) to do with the actual disc price?? It does not matter if you slap a movie or a game on a DVD it is both Data and the disc will always be at the same price no matter what.. Storage Size is the only factor here. L2DVDMaster.

Disc prices are beside the point anyway. Apart from the game, the biggest chunk of bucks that went into the boxed copy is the box itself; it is made in metal and probably printed with at least 4 runs through a pretty expensive printing machine. Add to that a brochure / guide, full color printed dvd(s) and you've got the picture.

My guess would be that SV payed somewhere between 12 and 20 dollars in total production cost per box. This could be on the higher side of that scale since as far as I know they only ordered up to 10k ish copies of each; do the same with, say, 300k boxes or more, like the big releases, and the price would be quite a bit lower per box since prices drop a lot with bigger orders. That is, these would be the costs without shipping and taxes.

I imagine it cost them, possibly, twice what you think.

You're fogetting the art, the box that the box comes in, the art on that box, and everything else.
I dought they made the brochure/ guide in house, or even the layout for the box art.  It's likely whoever is producing the boxes did everything, and at less then 10k copies it's going to cost a lot.

They even said themself that they aren't making that much off the boxes, and they had to sell them before the DD in order to try and recoup some of the money they put into it.  I could see a 50% profit on each box, but not a 100 to 150%.

The printing part, not the stamping of the box, but the printing of the art on the cardboard box and the manual is more expensive then people realize.

Then consider everything that comes in the LE.
I imagine a portion of the regular box price was to help cover the cost of producing everything in the LE.

everyone keeps agruing about the boxes... Box this box that.. That is not the case.. it costs 5 bucks at game stop to preorder AND get a beta code for AION... 5 stinkin lousy dollars.. 5 bucks to try the game, help test and blah blah, decide its not what you wanted? go back to gamestop and get your money back... This is about paying full + price for an unfinished product that you have no idea what will be in the final retail and its condition. Its not the same..

No one wants to admit that what they have done is gambled 75 dollars on pictures and videos.. if its something you dont like, too bad, enjoy your metal box and art..

I think I'll wait a month or 2 for the 14 day free trial.

If it cost more than $5.00 a box to make, that's the box and everything that comes in it, I would wonder who the incompetent purchasing agent is.

Everytime I go out and buy a game for my 360 for 55-60 dollars I take a gamble.
Any PC game I buy is a gamble.
Any game I buy is a gamble.
Same goes for just about everything I spend money on.
Hell, buying a pair of jeans is a gamble, and this one is turning out to be the gamble with the lowest odds.  It seems like one out of every half dozen pair I buy I like one.

NCsoft isn't a small company producing thier first game and in need of revenue to continue funding.  NCsoft already released Aion some time ago and doesn't need to charge the full price of the game, nor do they need to beta test the game.  They need to beta test the localization wich is why they keep using the beta for marketting.  The game was already released and patched of most bugs.

I spent 55 (?) on WoTLK.
I played it for a whopping 5 min.  My friends kept telling me how great it was until I broke down and finally baught it.
Personally MO only needs to have better combat then Darkfall online.  Frankly I got more value out of my 5 min of WoTLK and didn't really mind paying the money, DFO on the other hand...

There is something called a free demo.. Most if not all games have them, 360, PC etc.. Check out fileplanet sometime for the latest demo's, or even STEAM.. XBox live has em. This game is a true gamble..

LOL you do know that there is no such thing as a "free demo" in the MMO genre don`t you? There is rarely even a trial right after release....most of the time you have to wait for at least six months. xbox360 and single player pc games are not really in the same boat...

Oh and btw...you know what a movie trailer is? They all look good but easily half of them turn out to be crap. same goes for game demos. Mostly you see the best parts of the game and when you buy it it turns out to be a hollow shell and they lured you in.

Bad analogy there m8.

I wish people would read...

50 bucks for a digital download of the game, which is normal pricing for an MMO.

The inflated prices are for special offers, so if you want to shell out extra money for extra stuff, go for it.

Just wait for the game to come out offically and buy the 50 buck version.  Sheesh.

Why? It's much more fun to run around like a headless chicken, screaming "F*** YOU MO!", at the first sight of something you dislike. It's pretty funny.

Though the OP was a bit more creative by using Nobama. Good job!
