Other than the blip that happened around 3 PM EST (account management was up for a couple minutes), you can buy the game and be ingame within a couple of minutes with the EU to NA upgrader.  If not, about 3 hours for the torrent (on cable).  Very much the opposite of the EU launch.

I am very curious to see how many players will start fresh on NA-1.  Server population on EU-1 is low(Yssam excluded), I wonder how NA-1 will be in the first week?

the site, shop, and download have all gone smooth thus far. 3 of my guildies are running the game right now....they say the server is smooth and crisp.

Sounds nice over there on NA-1, I'll be stuck in EU-1 for 3 months. I'll be watching developments in NA-1 closely from forums/guildies.

My dad and I both picked up NA today and with the exception of not knowing when sales would open, it was a very smmoth launch.

We also notice a huge difference with the changes that were made since EU release, probably because we are newbies again.

Great launch.  Great game.   Me = happy..

Of course launching a second server goes smother, they have fixed the worst server issues, learned from the last one and most likely fewer players try to get in at once.

It is still good news of course but nothing to be suprised off.

Good for Darkfall on the launch, they definately needed a smooth (second) one.  My concern is the fact that they have messed up the initial flood of accounts that come in that games thrive off of to make it (Ala Age of Conan selling 1 million copies right away, I beleive WAR also had huge inital numbers).  They made the game almost impossible to get and forced NA players to play on a server half a world away and a game that crashed for months and was basically a glorified beta.  The damage done there will probably cause DF to never hit maximum potential.  A game like DF thrives off hardcore players and sadly I think alto of them got it once available and were rather disapointed and decided not to waste the time.  Also, considering the new games coming out in the next year I think this game is going to be one of the fastest as far as the coming and going of subs.  Good luck to those who still play but It's too late for many of us.

How is it a good launch?  The only thing they did was copy/paste the game code to the new server.... this isn't a launch as its been out officially for 5 months now...

I made the move along with some guildies from EU and the whole process was flawless. Using the EU to NA migration info I was up and running in no time. My ping is a third of what it was on EU, I can only notice a small difference though, seems their net code is very very good. Anyway, NA release = massive success for me, kudos Ave, you succeeded. Ok now time for bed.

If Aventurine was a major MMO company, i would fully agree with you here. Nothing special if Blizzard or SOE did launch in a another continent on our planet.

But for a small indie developer from greece (wich nobody ever belived they would launch anything).....its fucking unbeliveable : )

I must say, I am surprised.  Grats to AV for having a smooth launch of the North American client.  I try to give credit when credit is due.

Would love to know how many subscrips are on NA-1 now. Is it sold out yet?

Smooth because of the lack of interest no doubt. It wouldn't surprise me if  the servers are far from being loaded with demand like the EU release. I expect there's the sounds of crickets and the odd tumble weed on the purchase page.

I agree with this. It's been out 5 months, all they did was get a new server on NA grounds. This is not an incredible achievement, it's standard and completely expected. They are getting close to releasing this game it seems, and this smooth launch can help verify that, but this "achievement" is like praising your kid for getting a C on a test when they normally get F's.

the only thing unbelievable is that people would pay for this garbage in the first place. Even for an indie company its rather simple to start of a new server on a different continent.

Hey I don't know why people would pay for the garbage that is WOW, AOC or WAR but they do.

have you ever released a game on a different continent with no big supporters?

I agree, AOC and WAR were garbage, which is of course why they lost 50-80% of their subs in the 3 months after release, which caused funcom to fire entire offices of GMs and the game producer.

WOW is like the ultimate scam of all -- get a bunch of people to pay you for a second job, grinding repetitive, dumbed-down pointless quests and scripted bosses over and over, and then simply copy'n'paste 90% of existing content into the next expansion and reset the levels making all their effort worthless and then get them to do it all over again. It's both hilarious and sad, yet true.

Who cares what AV does now? Even if they smoothly release NA it doesnt make up for the horrible launch in the first place. Mortal Online comes out soon. Buy that instead of Darkfall...Darkfall is garbage.

Well, if you sell the rights to publish your game to another company, it makes life difficult if that company can only publish games in a certain area (EU).  They either self published in NA (and absorbed the fee's for doing so themselves) or had another company publish the game for them.  Its all behind the scenes.  Try to buy EU Warhammer and play on a NA server.  You can't, you have to buy Warhammer in North America.

This is a good accomplishment for an indy company.  Quit the hate.  EA and Blizzard is not your god.

Umm...do you mean by AV saying that some company would be handling the NA servers, hence the need for a transfer fee.....when in fact AV is handling the NA server, and any additional charges for a transfer are basically unethical? That "good accomplishment?

No, had you said all mmorpg's are like what you describe WoW as then I would agree with you.  However, you act as if WoW is the only one like that. Which is ridiculous and only someone new to the genre would think that, hence my original comment.
