Ok well since people apparently don't read what they are getting when they are buying ill clear some things up, Embossed Metal Box - This box isnt some flimsy piece of crap its an actual metal box that will last a long time and probably easily costs 10 dollars just to make it. Free future digital updates and EXPANSIONS - Ok for anyone who is into MMO's this should ring a big whoa in your head meaning that expansions like lets say in terms of WoW, Burning Crusade and WoTLK which both when released cost what 40 bucks? meaning for just the boxed version of WoW to date cost 110 dollars compared to Mortal Onlines 75 dollars. So I hope this little explanation of mine enlightens some people. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

Keep the box I've got a closet full of dusty collectors tins as it is. Many MMOs don't charge for expansions anyway. $75 is just too much to charge in today's market. I'll be very much surprised if they don't reduce that before to long. It's really going to hurt their sales. Even at $50 most MMOs are way overpriced IMO. Most? WoW, EQ2, LoTRO, Guild Wars. 4 of the top rated games all charge for their expansions and 2 have yet to release a expansion, which one is Mytic/EA so if they do release an expansion more than likely it will cost money. Ok you have collector edition boxes so it doesn't matter that much to you but people that like to collect things like this its not a bad bonus for what 10 more bucks. Yes you will be able to buy the game for cheaper in 2 weeks or whatever when they release the download edition if there aren't 10,000 orders with the Box edition, which I seriously doubt. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

You will most likely throw it away in a few months because you can't give away an AOC or WAR collector's edition right now. Free expansion, you know why? They won't release any big expansion, these Devs have no money. They will probably call patches an expansion how Darkfall is using that word. Buy what you want, but please don't try to tell people this is a good deal and cheap...

When you have a factory making tin cans in the millions, you can make them for 10 cents, yeah. If you try to order a tin box from that tin can factory in only small quantities of a few thousand, it's going to cost a lot more. |

The only people that are crying about this are one of the following: 1. Pissed because they can't afford the boxed version and get into the beta. 2. Are not fans of the game in the first place and are just trying to find a way to discredit the company.
I don't know how many times I have to say this but, THE GAME WILL BE AVAILABLE AT A LATER DATE WITH LESSER OR EQUAL NORMAL MMO COST FOR DIGITAL DOWNLOAD! so, assuming all the complainers are fans of the game and just want to get into beta, caugh up the dough now and be guaranteed a spot in the beta, or wait for the digital download, with no guarantees on beta access. |

lol, Obviously you don't know the expenses of personalized items. I have looked at even custom poker chips for friends and for like 100 chips just plastic chips with a sticker on them costs close to 100 dollars, here find me a company that will make me an embossed metal box with a customized picture I send worth even 5 dollars and ill give you 50 dollars. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

If you are one person trying to buy one of an item it is expensive of course. If you are mass producing items from a Chinese factory they are probably 1 dollar per tin man.... You are only getting a box that others will be getting, it is not personalized with your own design and name.
Here you go though just to show you an example, the first thing I saw on google searcgh:
http://www.motivators.com/Promotional-SportBottles-Custom-13-344.html
Personalized items for 79 cents and a couple dollars... go figure huh? That is from a website selling to individuals.
Now imagine asking a factory in China to make you a lot of an item, just copies, it is only a couple cents each believe me.

lol, You haven't shown me anything close to the work that it takes to make an embossed metal box, and your saying they went to a china factory we don't know where they got this from an I will say this theres no way that they bought these for a couple cents per and if they did the people that made it are losing money so the chances of that happening are extremely low. Also the 79 cent bottles were plastic, the alluminum ones were 4 dollars or so and almost 10 dollars for stainless steel. We don't know what type of material the box is made of either. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

I'm just gonna drop this topic here. I made my point in another thread. I am not against anyone buying it, but I do not support this type of business these Devs are doing. Asking players to pay to test their Alpha game and charging more than normal for it as well. Also, the tin box you think you bought isn't even made yet, they will use the money you payed to go make them now....I hope it is nice man, but my point is, why are you paying for them to use players like this? Do you want all MMO companies to start releasing Alpha games like Darkfall and MO?

More chances to find and fix problems. I am not sure if this game is considered in alpha stage, nor do I care. Just giving my opinion on that line. |

Ugh, why do people think that we are paying money to play an Alpha game. We are playing this money for oh noes the end product that comes out sometime in q4 or probably q1 of next year. If someone buys this game for just the beta I agree with you they are idiots(atleast 75 dollars) but most of the people that are buying this game see a company that we believe in and want to help support that and the beta is a bonus. That right there is what I payed for. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

The thing is there are only 10,000 announce preorders so once the 10,000 are gone there are no more preorders or atleast they have not hinted at there being anymore preorders which is another reason I bought it, because this means I will have the game on my computer before release so on release day I won't have to redownload the game meaning the 10,000 ppl that have preordered will be having probably either a day head start or a few hours. Also the 2000 more open slots for beta are limited to the 10,000 preorders so the way it works is on july 20 the 1 lifetime buyer, 999 LE buyers and 1000 boxed editions get in at that time than 2 weeks later the next 2000 boxed editions get in and so on so forth. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

I'm reserving judgement on this game until i see it go live, as in full release. And when I know the only difference between Talos and Tasos is really just one little letter. |

Ah ok I wasn't aware they limited it. Anyway to stay kinda on topic. People pay $60 for console games now a days, I don;t see a big deal in $75 for an mmo. Yes I know console games don't have a monthly fee, but that goes towards keeping he servers up and new content. I will take a guess as to if this starts off decent, you will see more companies raise the initial cost. |
