Ok here is my prediction, you heard it here first.

Drakonids will be a new Hero Race that will be added in the next WOW expansion: Cataclysm.

1. Drakonids will not be allowed to play as Death Knights but any of the other classes will be OK. (However, they may have some class restrictions beyond Death Knight)
2. They will have their own starting area like the other races.
3. Because they are uber they will start around level 58.
4. By the time they leave their starting area they will be around level 68 and can head straight into Northrend skipping vanilla wow and BC.

I predict everyone will complain about them being op.

No more than they complained about Death Knights being OP when WOTLK came out.

That doesnt make any sense, Blizzard confirmed new Hero Classes, not Hero Races, so its not going to happen. I would bet on some Sentinel like Hero class and some new graphics.

I say Sentinel because if its true the new expansion is about the maelstrom and the cataclysm the night elves gonna have an important role like the paladins had in wotlk, so a sentinel class would be apropriate

The idea is appealing.

However, Im hoping for new classes, rather than races.

The drakonid as a playable race is not actually my idea but having it be a hero race is.

It's kind of a no brainer really. How could they add a new race to the game and have people actually want to create new toons. I think all Races and Classes added to the game from this point on will be Hero. Unless they just nerf the hell out of leveling in general with heirlooms and what not.

I think having a heroic race is a horrible idea.

Especially having them start at level 50+.

Simply aweful, having a new race must be balanced, and if they do add in any more they should really go back and redo all the old character models too.

One new race too?

How would you justify them being horde and alliance?

I really think this is aweful.  Sorry.

If there was a new race/faction......4 me it would have to be Goblins :)

Well Cataclysm isn't even an expansion for WoW, it's a new IP meaning it is a new mmo completely, lol...

Well, a third faction is not an impossible idea, i mean, Blizzard said something about allowing to exchange faction for a fee, maybe thats a way to launch a third faction and allow the 3 of them to be balanced.  Who knows

Well Newsguy, i find this hard to belive since the Cataclysm is a key event in Warcraft Lore, it would be strange to say the least if Blizzard based 2 mmos on a similar event =P

Well Newsguy, i find this hard to belive since the Cataclysm is a key event in Warcraft Lore, it would be strange to say the least if Blizzard based 2 mmos on a similar event =P
 

 

 

Actually I've been hearing Cataclysm as the title of the new MMO too. Or it might be the codename Blizzard is using for the new MMO kinda like Windows Vista's codename was Longhorn.

In any case Cataclysm is a generic term that wouldn't necessarily have to be related to WoW...besides cataclysm only refers to the great sundering in WoW lore...and isn't the actual term.

So in any case, there isn't much to go on except the fact Blizzard is working on something titled Cataclysm, whether it means the new xpac or a new MMO is still uncertain...0o

Only thing that's known is that Blizzard plans to release both a new WoW xpac and a new MMO in the future...=/

I think this belongs in the rumor forum, since you don't even give a source, or a clue for that matter as to where you got this information.

I think Hero Races are still a good idea and I still think we may see the Drakonid in a later expansion. Heirloom gear seems to be the major way Blizzard is handeling the re-roll..oh yeah and completely remaking the old world.

But my prediction was obviously wrong and it was just that; a prediction. I never pretended that I had some sort of inside information.

Well after the ridiculous mix of rat-goat like Draynei i was hoping for a serious looking race. Dont know whats a Draconid but its name makes me sceptical...

Draneai = rat / goat?  They look nothing like a rat or a goat (apart from having hooves for feet).

Apparently here is a drakonid.  I really cannot see them being a playable race.

No OP. you close, but off. The Dragnoid will be the 3rd Faction in CAT. It would be a combo of LoTRO and AION's PvP.

They are a Playable NPC Faction Race, that can only be played in the new PvP Zone(as of now, but can change). This new PvP zone functions similar to Aion's Abyss and how it handle it's 2 Faction combat, with Npc 3rd faction. But with playable options.

Well this idea of Hero Race is totally impossible. Only Classes can be Heroic at all...
