I was reading through gamesradar.com posting of PC Gamer UK's article of SWTOR (www.gamesradar.com/pc/star-wars-the-old-republic/preview/star-wars-the-old-republic-hands-on/a-2009070610215182000/g-20081021163120143024) and in this article they talk about the Sith fight aboard a star ship.  Well, in the article the writer asks about all the lockers and crevices on the side of the room; the question was asked if that is for the smugglers.

The scenario is taking place aboard a Sith instanced ship, why would there be crevises for smugglers?  Here is my thinking, maybe it's not for smugglers, but rather for an Empire class like a spy or assassin since it is taking place aboard  a Sith ship.  In the Deceit trailer we saw Twi'lik take cover in the battle, we thought at first she was a smuggler, but there have been a couple of posts, good ones too I just can't find them atm, guessing that the unannounced class placing her to be a spy.  I suspect the new class will be a spy that has the ability to use cover, maybe even an assassin?

Possibly, but until Bioware make an official announcement, it's all just guesswork, enjoyable but fruitless.

Unfortunately, Bioware have always had the rather annoying and, in my opinion, condescending habit of reserving information about the features of the game, even when they are non-sensitive, and then releasing them in dribs and drabs. This is called 'managing customer expectations'.

Other classes can make use of cover, and your companion could most likely be a smuggler.

Good point, I never thought about our companions being other classes that are not available to the players.

...also, yes, I'm just putting out a big guess, who really knows at this point....not until we hear something official but guessing is just as fun until we hear otherwise.

The crevices and lockers are for the cover system, and yes it will be used by the  smugglers.

Yes, that is my point!

Smugglers are Republic only, so why would they be on a Sith ship?

There's probably a Republic version of that instance, where you storm a ship like that and have to kill the bridge crew or something.

I thought of that too, but I'm hoping that is not the case since they have stated in serveral interviews where each quest and location will be different for each class.

I don't have a link but I'm sure i read somewhere in and interview that there won't be any healing classes as everyone will have the ability to heal themselves.
