Two new videos are now available for Champions Online. The first video, hosted over at GiantBomb gives us a look at the explosive PvP combat coming in Champions Online. The second video, available at GameSpy, takes us through the process of character creation, as well as the many options that are available.

Check out the new PvP trailer here, and the Character Creation video here.

Think

Even the sound effects are rehashed from City of Heroes.

The grpahics BARELY look improved.

The combat looks IDENTICAL.

Why play this game and not City of Heroes? I don't see a point. Exactly the same game.

Wow, how completely unoriginal. At least in the beginning WoW had better pvp elements to it. Oh how I miss the days of the original DAOC. I think now all we'll ever get is instanced arena type play out of any of the MMO's out there. Heh, even Mythic blew it on WAR as well.

This is the first MMO since I began following MMO development amd release schedules 10-15 years ago (Post UO) that I have felt confident I'll be fully satisfied with the product. I had high hopes for many games like SWG, AoC, and CoH but I have never felt sure. I'm not saying that I know I'll be hooked on the game for many months or years, but I know I won't be disappointed.

I swear play the game first before making comparisons to COH because it plays nothing like that. DAOC original? Sorry.. far from it. I think the game for you two would be Darkfall with all it's originality and it also plays like nothing else. HA!

Didn't say DAOC was original in it's concept. Please read it again. I said the "original DAOC". That is to say DAOC before all the expansions. However, because you thought I meant DAOC original, I can tell you it did have great elements to it. First PVP was completely concentual. You could PVE all you wanted, however you cross into the frontier realms and you had PVP.

I also said nothing about wanting full loot and FFA pvp like Darkfall as your other comment suggested.

Anyways I will play the open beta of this COH clone and decide if I too like it or not. I can already tell you I will not like the PVP aspect of it as is shown. Btw, I did not like the COH/COV concept of PVP as it was implimented, yet it looks to be better overall then just arena bowls.

Fair enough. None of us have a degree in MMOs and every game is not for everyone's taste.

Hm. I am a great fan of Superhero comics, but one, there is none of my fav heroes, esp. from Marvel. These from CO say nothing to me. So it is kinda difficult to identify with that. And what I love about Superhero comics is their story, the characters, Wolverine, Batman, Green Lantern... whoever. Yeah, combat is cool and nice, but what about the personal story of the hero? I wonder if a MMO can really capture that, or if they won't just be fancy dressed beat up guys in the end? How can they transport what makes those Superheroes in the comics special and individual? I wonder.
