Instead of subjecting so many gamers to the agony of pre-order web madness, it seems like having a pre-order request requiring credit card for weeks prior to the deciding date would make so much more sense.   Sort of like a lottery.   You submit a request for X type of copy of the game, give CC info., and by lottery the winners are choosen and notified.

Seems so much more logical to me.

You read my mind, I've suggested the same exact thing.


It makes more sense. And the server wouldn't be bogged down because people wouldn't be in a rush to be first in line, since it'd all be random anyway. People would sign up gradually during the 2 weeks (or however long) in advance they gave us to sign up and we'd learn whether or not we got accepted into the paid beta or not.
