NC soft, though an arrogant company in my opinion, is a good company. They might not be touchy feely but Lineage 2, Guild Wars (yes I know they published it, but they DID publish it) their publishing City of X and now they develop it, Dungeon Runners was fun, etc.

It does look visually attractive to me.

It does't have to be new, it has to have the right blend of ingredients that people are looking for. So in the end it is just not your game.

1st off the Game looks great, but some people don't like the art style (anime-ish)

To me it is visually attractive.

When I saw NCSOFT was making the game I wrote the game off too....
But then I played the Chinese retail of it... and fell in love with it.
The graphics... The way it plays... it's not prefect, but I still like it.
I didn't like Lineage 1 or 2, and thought Guild Wars was just OK...
Oh... and didn't CoH either... and don't even get me started on TR.

Tho is shares of Lineage 2 features, it don't feel like Lineage at all.

You're right about not bringing anything new to MMOs, but does really matter?
It a fun game that does things, done before, it's own way, improves on some of them.

Agreed, if they want a new mmo they should make one. If the game is fun and entertaining with something to strive for I am willing to give it a go. And I think this game was fun got 2 chars to level 20, and I am not bored yet. I think this is no grinding game by a longshot. I played grindgames and this is nothing like it. And I cant talk more about the game until I have atleast 1 max level, because at that point I got all the facts. I couldnt care less about what ignorant people says about a game after playing it for 5-10 level.

He is just intrested in seeing it burn, like many others. Reasons? I dont really know ; it could be that their computer is too old and too slow. That they wanna be original and just flame games that is taking  people from his/her game. He could be a employe for another game company. Many of us including myself have already tried it, your just waisting your time trying to convince mmorpg forums because from what I can tell a large percentage of us have already tried the game for ourselves and some like it and some dont but I really dont think your bias opinion that it sucks just cause its made by an Asian group is going to prevent anyone who has played and liked it to not sub. Aion has my sub when it is released and they already got a preorder out of me, how long will I play aion? It depends on the rest of the content that I experience, not off someone else bashing it

It took only one weekend for me to figure out I don't like this game.  I'm glad it's coming out though.  I'm sick to death of hardcores whining about casual content in games and harassing developers within an inch of their sanity to make things more hardcore.  Now they have a game they can flock to and leave the rest of us in peace.  Maybe now someone can come out with a truly casual MMO with no hardcore elements at all, just for those of us who have been waiting for the genre to move forward.

It is a slightly better visually than WoW.

It brings nothing new - apart from wings.

The beta I played last weekend was absolutely awful - but it's 'beta', right?

OP is missing nothing from I saw.

I've have pre-ordered too - seems no worse than all the other crap on the market at the moment.

Yep, after trying it over a June weekend, I do not see this game appealing to WoW players and that is an informed statement.  Nice try at invalidating it though.....not.

Warhammer Online has a helll of a lot more in common with WoW than Aion does and it didn't even have an impact on WoW on it's release date.  That indicates they didn't even jump ship to try the game, so how can anyone in their right mind think Aion would have a better chance when it's much more hardcore oriented and forces PvP after level 25?

You are correct. Aion will not appeal to most WOW players and actually it will make them quite angry when they get to level 20-25+ and Rifts start opening and they realize this game eliminates the player's choice to PVP when they want too. It is simple as that.

WOW players like choice, that is ultimately why the game is so big and why so many people like it. Aion doesn't give you a choice to PVP, it doesn't give a choice of leveling zones, it doesn't even give you a choice of starter zones or races (just 1 per side and that is the only choice you make).

I'm excited for Aion. It has nothing to do with marketing or advertising. I looked it up and came to my own conclusion.
