OK....against my better judgement, I've decided to give the AoC vet trial a go. Unfortunately, my patcher keeps crashing. I see there are reports by others with this problem on the AoC tech forum, but as of yet, I have not seen a solution posted. I have not posted there myself since I wanted to wait until I was updated and patched before activating my 14 days. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?? Never saw this back when I actually played the game.
Edit: exact nature of the crash is this (report truncated to relevant information): "Access Violation (0xC0000005) in C:\Program Files\Funcom\Age of Conan\ConanPatcher.exe"

this maybe a silly question but did you try doing a fresh install? also there is a 'verify' tool in the AoC folder you can run to check the files for corruption.
1) Run SimpleConfig.exe (found in your install directory) A country raised New Zealand girl can kill, bleed, gut, skin and butcher a sheep in about 40 minutes, the sheep are bigger than a large person ... so be careful about pissing off a NZ country girl. |

Also, Simpleconfig won't do it, unfortunately....since the data is not there to be verified or repaired yet. Ran it anyway, of course, but still crashes when I attempt to patch. I might just have to find my DvD and try that way, but I'd hate to go through all that and then have it STILL crash when I try to patch.

I'll cross my fingers for you and hope that works out and after the re-install, you don't get the 'account frozen' problem I had for 2 days (not due to sub / no cc info issue, they never said why it froze). Hey couple of things. You may or may not of tried these. Always launch the game from ConanPatcher.exe and not the other ones. Sometimes with the client not starting or if you having issues, try deleting your entire Prefs folder and restarting the client. Prefs folder can be found : VISTA: XP: Access Violation (0xC0000005) can be a memory error from bad ram, in this case probably issues with the software for the patcher with that streaming installer setup. When you install from your DVD's it will take probably a little while, but you would get a different patcher I think. Everytime there is a patch they have changed it where it will install the latest version of the patcher. New Tarantia Commons DX10 - DX 10 Goodness - |

Yeah....looks like my only solution wold be tear my storage shed apart looking for the box with my AoC disk in it. I think I'll pass. I'm kinda surprised that none of the posts pertaining to this problem on the AoC boards have been even answered yet, though. I know for a fact that there's nothing wring with my machine....I run stuff on here that would cause issues if that were the case, so unfortunately it's just not gonna work. Ah well....maybe next year. Thanks for the help everyone, either way. Always good to have helpful people around.

Fresh install might do the trick. That's what it took for me when the game ran fine for 2 days then suddenly would not launch yesterday. Like you said, lots of people issues on the tech forums. Seems like 1.05 brought in a lot of bugs with it, they probably would have been better holding off on this veteran retry for a couple of months.. |

If you don't like the streaming type install you can always try downloading it from mmorpg.com. Go to the main section for AoC on this site and there is a Download Now green button. It is is sections. The download for me when I last tried was pretty fast. Goodluck! EDIT: Damn, I guess it is gone. Use to be there. .. .... .- - . - .-. --- .-.. .-.. ... .-- .... --- .-. . .--. --- .-. - .-.-.- Playing: AoC, LOTRO, |

This was their big shot to try and get a ton of free 'so glad I came back' press, the early responses I have been reading on a lot of multi-game power guild forums haven't been very kind (a way better barometer, than a site like this). FC's marketing dept. will label it a giant success either way, they always have.
