mmo background

started with wow, played for couple years, tried vanguard at release, hated it, back to wow, tried lotr, hated it, back to wow, tried aoc at release, hated it, back to wow, tried war kinda liked it but got bored fast, back to wow,  at this point i began to hate wow too. So me and some  buddies uninstall wow, we are finished with it, we are going to wait for another mmo or whatever. i start reading and looking around and see they made some changes to vanguard, hmmm 14 day free trial. ok so i set it up, right from the start i could tell this was not the same game it was at release. told my buddies about it, they set it up, they say dude this is pretty cool. anyway we are going to give it another go and see how it works out but i will have to say to everyone, its worth the second look i believe i may be around for awhile.

Peace

Its nice to see more than just EQ1 folks liking this game.

I guess this game is a lot harder than MMOs being released, it puts people off.

Now playing: Vanguard SOH
Played for more than a month: Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

People Suck Avoid Them Whenever Possible

I have always said Vanguard is a very good game that had some very bad technical coding. It would indeed be worth another look if they forced everyone playing currently on to one or two servers and then spent every penny on making those two servers bug free.

well, this is my response to you. from the thread of another poster who is asking the same question:

That isn't a bad review. I have to say that I disagree/agree with your assessment about the rift travel. I personally use it to get from one large area to another but then use horse to get to where I want to go.

Of course, one doesn't have to use the rifts and can just use foot/mount travel if they wanted to. I can see where it would sort of mittigate the huge world effect but it also makes the game manageble for those who don't want to spend a good part of their game time "just" traveling.

As far as whether or not Vanguard is for the OP.

OP:

You are a solo player who loves a challenge and who doesn't mind leveling up so you can do some content that is meant for groups but can be done by a slightly higer lvl character solo.

or

You are a very social person who will immediately seek out a good guild.

and

You have patience so that small bugs or vanishing textures doesn't send you off the edge.

and

You want a large world where exploration is a key component to your gameplay.

that should answer your question.

Its hardly a sinking ship, I would say numbers have increased slow but steady since IOD and more so since Pantheon.

I tried Vanguard again about 1 1/2 months ago. It`s now the only MMO that I play. The game is done very well, but it does tend to lean towards grouping. You can solo in the game though. I have a new computer and it runs the game easily, although I do get some hitching in Outpost or populted areas. I run at near max settings though. Game play wise, Vanguard might be the best I have ever played. I have now tried 13 of the 15 classes and they all seem to be well done and balanced. My main toons are almost lvl 30 now, and the journey has been a blast so far. I can`t wait to see what 30 through 55 bring.
