If a gaming company releases a game, then later change something that radicaly affect the game.. i frown, the first time. It usualy never end there tho..
Should games change with time? Are core rules be set in stone? Should items and npcs/mobs change? Classes unfair? Is there any limits to what they can change? Should a game reinvent itself trough expansions and level cap increases? Anything else?
Youre thoughts?

Could you imagine watching football without the forward pass? Because it used to be illegal :) Not sure if this answers your question. Some game changes are good some are bad! |

Well, mmo's are in unique positions where they can change the game, that a lot of other games cannot do. Now the question is, is it good to change a game to pull a larger crowd in? Is it good to change the fundamentals? I think that depends on what the players want. A lot of times you get a lot of community support for a game change, only to have those very people hate it once they get it. And if they choose not to change the game, people will be upset, complain that the devs dont listen.... So the company is damned if the do and damned if they dont. Im playing a game right now that just underwent such a process (and still going). A lot of the older players a screaming bloody murder, but for the newer players, its really enhanced gameplay to an extent. So in that case, its good if your new, not so good if your set in your ways. Either way the forums like these will be swarming with people upset at whatever decision they make. |

It's really hard to say as I heard last night or so on Xplay, if you change something that people previously liked, they're gonna be pissed. If you don't change anything, the people who don't like it are gonna be pissed. So idk |

Games must change while keeping the core gameplay the same in order to survive. It's a challenge. |
