Quoted from the swtor forums:
WizeFool wrote -- new PC Gamer out today, i was gona scan in the articel but my main comp is broken and i only have a laptop. so i will pull out some key points. -and it turns out the austin studio has alredy created plenty"the game is playable. We have a server up and running we can play the game the game at home" -troopers can use cover. -the BH class pic doesnt have mando armour -suggested new classes are engineer - droids and slaver *this is just speculation on thier part -they think it will be a "credible WoW killer" -it suggests that people can join instances whenever they like. so like the whole diablo 2 kinda thing -differant combat mechanic for every class -specific mention of AoC and how the first 20 lvls where great but the rest lacked polish -at the end space combat is hinted at " or hey space combat"-vogel raises an eyebrow."oh we have that too. were just gona make you wait a little bit to show you that" overall its a very good article- if anyone has any specific questions i can look through the article and find the paragraph and write what they say for you. oh and if anyone can scan and link it, i can put in here or i could request a delete

1. Troopers can use cover: No prob, as long as the Smuggler still has a WAY better advantage while in cover 2. BH not wearing Mando Armor: This once again reinforces my thought on a possible Mandalorian class [much heavier fighter than a bounty hunter, experts with vibroblades so up close as well as ranged] might be possible. Afterall, just because someone is a bounty hunter doesn't mean they're mandalorian. We'll see... 3. Sure sounds like space combat confirmed to me! |

The fact that they're including space combat, and other things like full-voice-overs..I mean the amount of work going into this game seems insane. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=17779800832&sid=1&pageNo=1 The OP just doesn't get it! |

Thanks for the heads up DeaconX. You are always one step ahead in the game, when it come to SW:TOR news. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

I don't buy many magazines, but is this article in July 2009 or June?
Thanks |

I'm not happy about joining instances whenever you like because how WoW did instances so well was they were built natrually into the world so they never felt out of place. However if you suddenly can just load into an instance like you can PVP battlegrounds in WoW then suddenly the world becomes smaller and people stop socialising and the world becomes dead. Everything will just feel like a game rather than an online Star Wars world which is the feeling you want. |

Hmm. Droid Engineers and Slavers as pet classes, eenteresting. Just hope they're not as hands-off (i.e. bottable) as pet classes in other games (i.e. WoW - Hunter). I really wouldn't want to run into a ton of slavers on Korriban with names like "happyjoy" who respond to every communication with "ni hao, zuong guo?" Kinda glad about troopers being able to use cover; it would be a bit lame to just stand out in the open trading fire while there's a ton of stuff to duck behind, but it does infringe a bit on the Smuggler territory. Maybe Smuggler is going to get a greater choice of "cover spots" based on the fact that they ain't wearing half a starship's worth of armour and can squish/duck into cover that a Trooper couldn't. Confirmation of space combat is also very welcome; it just wouldn't be Star Wars without it. |

Let's see if their promises live up to the hype, heh.

I'm extremely glad to hear that space combat might be involved, not to be nit picky but that was the sole thing that got me in SW:G so hopefully they will be able to take that idea and run with it. I was already onboard with the already alluring concept of a more refined and streamline MMO of my favorite franchise, but if they include space combat then I'm pretty much gonna kiss goodbye to my social life. Life is about take chances and venturing out of your box, making mistakes and learning from them, and doing what you love. Find what drives you, as all paths end the same, so why not make the most of it and live a life worth living without regret? |

I would prefer a smaller leveling range that is complete. The complete voice over is really interesting thou. |

I think we need to get the whole "I want a World" thing and just drop it. This is a videogame, We haven't had a "World" to play in since SWG and before that AC and UO. Believe it or not WoW doesn't have a worlds its a zoned, instanced mess with pvp queues and sadly this is what 99% of the mmo player base likes. you think zoning into a dungeon from a major city through a que system is immersion breaking? well everyone else that doesn't read these forums loves that idea. Mini-games and instances rule the day and Personally I don't see that changing.

Honestly, that is where the market is. There are open sandbox games (Eve for example). However, the share of the market for those is pretty small. Bioware is trying to make a block buster. The game quality, I believe will be high. However, the game will definitely not be open world. You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you think otherwise. |

I love that idea too. Blizzard is putting queuing for WG battles too. It is a pain to check WG time and flly to/port to the zone when there is a battle. It may be novel the first time you do it, but more convenience is better. It is not like I haven't flown to the zone b4. A couple of times are enough. Doing it in the long run is just annoying. |

The only reason why they are making SW-TOR is too because they think it will be a "credible WoW killer" %$#@ me !!! |

So you think having a group of 5 dps toons in an fight is harder then having a variety of class ability.. You might honestly want to sit back and think about what you just said and how it plays out in the game.. I think dumbing down a game that allows for groups to not be reliant with each other is going overboard.. Atleast with the tank, heal and dps formula, the group winning and losing depends how well "everyone" in that group works together.. Tank needs heals, Healer needs protection.. Dps needs to kill before tank runs out of heals.. lol If any part of that formula breaks, the group fails.. However, what SWTOR is doing is dumbing all that down for easy "rpg" play.. ROFL |

QFT! The Bioware folks have said numerous times that Blizzard did a remarkable job. |
