NCsoft won't listen to my whining about what "I" want in "my" mmorpg therefore I hate them.  If they would just listen to me, everything would be perfect.  All they have to do is design their game around everything I like and am used to from other games.  You'd think by now MMO companies would just ask my opinion first.  It is clear Aion will be another failure which all could have been easily avoided had they been more informed of my wishes for it. I'll sum up my first 10 levels playing WoW with a new name.

FIrst I log in and they expect me to create a character...heh like that hasn't been done before.  Can anyone say WoW?  Next, I get in the game with my warrior and I'm killing mobs with a sword.....they may as well have just copied WoW's source code.  After killing five mobs or so, you guessed it, I gained a level.  They aren't even trying to hide it.   After gaining a few more of those level's  I got to my first small town and what do I see?  Class trainers.  Do I really need to go on?  It is clear after getting to level ten that Blizzard needs to take legal action.   I haven't seen for myself yet, but I've heard rumors that you have to actually pay a monthly fee.  This is a slam dunk case for Blizzard.

I used to have this re-occuring dream where werewolves would be outside my bedroom window clawing at the glass and right before they broke in I would wake up sweating and scared as hell.  Then one night in my dream I said screw it and went and opened the window and they came in and ripped me to pieces and ate my heart.  After that night I never had the dream again.  Was really cool.

I was the werewolf in my most recent odd dream.

Still, I like your dream. Is cool.  I don't think that I've ever actually been eaten (yet) in a dream.

You win, now if developers would just go on and listen... There would be no more new "WoW clones"! Why do these damned companies think they can simply go on and put known RPG elements into their MMOs? Such a blasphemy, WoW owns it all.

Edit - Forgot to add the sarcasm tags, sorry.

I agree.  If it's already proven successful and entertaining it shouldn't be used.

Good point, much better to ignore suggestions of people who may be future customers. Create a niche game and stay afloat with as few subs as possible and die a slow death.

It's funny how people say new MMORPG's  steal the technology etc from WoW...

The thing is...WoW is a MMORPG, Aion is a MMORPG, of course the char creation and game system can be compared to eachother, thats why they're in the same damn genre...
However, i have tried both WoW and Aion, and to be honest, Aion looks a LOT better than WoW...finally a company that really works on their graphics rather than stealing races from games developed in 1965 like WoW did.

If you truely want to rate a MMORPG, you don't compare it to a diffrent MMORPG...because you will ALWAYS find things you wont like then.

Whenever i want to see if a MMORPG is good, i just play it, check out diffrent features of the game, merge myself into the community and then take a conclusion.

I love playing Guild Wars, if i would compare Aion to Guild wars, i'd say it sucks too...but now that i've played Aion's CBT and experienced the game, not comparing it to anything, i'd say it has great potential. Unlike games like WoW, that are somehow considered successful cus millions of 10 year olds got addicted to it, i think Aion actually is worth a monthly fee.

its easy to get caught up in graphics, game x looks better than game y, but, these factors are so dependent on the players hardware that it becomes laughable, one of the factors that has allowed blizzard to 'corner the market' is that the thing will run reasonably well on a pocket calculator.... any prospective mmo developer has to contend with these issues, just look at what happened to age of conan, brilliant graphics, but the game bombed.. why.. because you need a liquid cooled supercomputer to run it, okay, thats an exageration, but not by much... how successful the game will be, will depend on its hardware requirements, and this is probably where quite a few mmo's fail, because the average player doesnt have access to the newest and the bestest, in fact  most of them probably dont even have dual cored processors... just a thought, i mean, the aim of an mmo is to have actual players right ?

You know, you can have great graphics with some great scaling options for lower end computers, also some very optimized graphics, which will show how much did they invest in polishing their game engine.

I can actually play Aion at max settings with a higher FPS than I play WoW (somehow theultra  distance and shadow options in that game make my game go under 20 FPS) with my Geforce 9800 GX2. So really, stop with this accessive games must feature crappy graphics, it's also part of cattering to a larger audience offering high and low-end graphics.

Pretty much like Guild Wars did, I could play it with my AMD Duron 800 MHz with a Geforce FX 5700 graphics card and dial-up connection, and still it graphics were really compared to the other options avaiable to that kind of computer around 3~4 years ago. Then I upgraded my computer, and could finnaly play that game at maximum settings.

Keep a journal.  Every morning as soon as you wake up, write down what you're thinking.  Eventually you won't need the journal anymore and your memory will be trained to remember what you saw while you were sleeping.

I dream every night and always remember it.  The best part is I get to control them like video games...  so I rarely die.

Yes.  You can do it through the realization that you're dreaming while you're well... dreaming.  You can setup 'trigger' symbols or just through training.
