Hi everyone, I would like to bring to the attention of all of MMORPG.com a very important piece of news. A great game, Dark Age of Camelot, is pressed for a major comeback in the coming weeks, and here is why: 1) Soon, ALL old servers will become unplayable archives, saving only character data. 2) A FREE transfer will be provided for ALL characters ever created in the history of the game. The transfer will be to a NEW fresh server called Ywain. This server is normal, however, bots are now less effective, allowing for better competition. 3) The transfer is forced and will consolidate the players into one jam packed server. 4) The transfer will restore the fun, community, and best PVP ever known to the MMO world.
In closing, if you remember your old accounts, and want to be a part of this, reopen. All your old characters will be available for transfer for FREE. If you have never played DAoC, this is the perfect time to get involved. Once again, this is a big development for the MMO world as a whole, as it will finally give those searching for true competitive PVP a home with directed, group based, skillful PVP. Come and join the realm war today, with XP bonuses, and other boosts, remember any old characters and new ones yet to be made will be able to transfer. Thanks, John

So basically what you are saying is that the game has reached the point where they need to force everyone to go to one server because the pop is too low to keep the other servers alive?? I dont think most of us consider a forced character transfer a "rebirth"....... |

Some people have not considered returning to DAOC whose characters are on the Bossiney and Killbury clusters due to their low populations. Many, like myself, have already rerolled on Devon due to its high population. With one server on new hardware, even with current numbers, there will be an average peak of 3000 similtaneous players on per day. This, combined with proposed changes to potions to decrease the difference between buffed and unbuffed players, will attract even more players. It also means that Mythics overheads are less, and increases the longevity of this great game :) |

Here is the link to the news: http://www.camelotherald.com/devblog/news_article.php?storyid=24 Some of the specifics are found in a post on the official Dark Age of Camelot forums (VN): http://vnboards.ign.com/devon_cluster/b22958/111067773/p1/?93 "I've gathered and compiled some of the common questions I've seen about character transfers, along with answers taken from various VN and Facebook posts (by Lori), and put them in one post for people to find more easily. Here ya go: Will there be incentives for Devon players to transfer to the new server, Ywain?

When Mythic do this I know I will be coming back to the game. Also I know that alot more will be coming back to the game. Because there is no game out now that can compare to DAOC PVP when theres alot of people online. I just hope Mythic have a updated engine running the new server so there won't be alot of crashing in RVR. |

Will this new server Ywain allow old EU accounts to be re-opened?
Or just US? |

Ya its odd cuz when they first mentioned this.. it wasn't about consolidating down to 2 clusters. I say 2 because I guess the co-op server will stay up.
The original announcement was that they will open this new server and give the option to transfer there. They mentioned for Bossiney players they MIGHT keep a mirror of your character in case you didn't like the new server.
I never saw a different announcement... but on CamelotVault I saw them mention all the other clusters would basicly be shut down (just used as a data source for people who came back and hadn't transferred to the new server).
So even this has already changed... compared to the original announcement. At that time all the clusters were going to remain fully active and the new server was just an option for those who didn't want to level to 50 again.

I think I would rather play a totally new server (Origins). Guess it depends on how the action looks (bored to death). Being able to choose the skills you want to use, offers much less variety than pre-made class based systems. -Future Game Developer |

I can't imagine it will allow EU-accounts, it is a different publisher here in Europe, even if there are only about 10 players left on the english speaking servers... |

I will reopen my old account to play this old great game once again. I've played on and off since release and I still say this is the best rvr-oriented game made so far. I know there aren't many players left but I intend to give it a last shot when theres still enough around to give me that familiar thrill in rvr areas. |

I have played Dark Age on and off since day 1 (litterally) and I would much rather have a new server like Orgins open up. |
