Other than this recent lawn mower thing that has done somethig like half a million lawn mowers in the last 5 years in my region, I have been burgled twice in this house, and once in my shop over a 40 year period.
Typically, people here don't have guns, so we get more burglaries and less murders.
When I lived in a poor neighbourhood, none of us bothered to buy anything worth stealing.
That's terrible, mate. Well in the US at least it is the poorer neighborhoods that have by far the highest crime, including burglaries. To be honest, it is hard for me to imagine a society where this is not the case. But maybe if you have a lot of burglars who are trying to make big money like it is a business for them... in the US that hardly exists anymore, people who do things like breaking and entering are generally either juvenile delinquents or pretty desperate criminals [crackheads, tweakers, etc]. If they get too brazen then the police will really be on their ass and it is rare for anyone going around burgling homes in decent neighborhoods to last too long in the US before getting caught and going to jail.
And why are you guys talking about Germany, it is one of the safer nations and not even on the high violent crimes list that this thread is discussing. Of course Germany also has extremely low immigration and harsh immigration laws compared to the UK, France, Sweden, and all those other countries where their society is disintegrating and crime is exploding... big surprise? Germany is becoming the hope for the survival of European civilization, because they actually considered their culture and society something worth preserving, unlike most of Western European morons who wanted to trade theirs in for a third world culture instead, lol. The one and only. |

Alright. If you're so confident, then go to the worst section of Oakland, California at night. There is a very good probability you will be raped and/or killed. Try it with Washington D.C. too, or Detroit, or Pittsburgh, or Minneapolis ... Hopefully you get the point. The murder rate in the District of Columbia (a tiny state) is 29.1... Unlike Germany, however, our country is so big that the murder rate is VASTLY understated: There are literally hundreds of people that go missing every year in each state and the police cannot officially report it as a murder, since it is very hard to find a corpse in this giant country of ours. I've also been in Northern/East Germany as I have some family there and while there are some robberies ( still not as many as here ) people rarely get killed. It's so bad here that if you break down in the wrong place, then it is not only possible, but it is LIKELY that you will get killed. I remember in the 90's when I was 12 years old I could walk around Hamburg alone at night without having to worry about getting abducted, while in America at the same time it was so bad that parents couldn't even let their kids wander out at night in SAFE neighborhoods. Yeah, I really question if you have ever been to the US...

You're just speaking anecdotally and basically talking out of your ass, while waiving away the real statistics quoted in this article as if they are worthless. LOL. Safety is largely a matter of perception, even in the worst neighborhood in the US there are tons of people that live there and very few of them actually get murdered. It is more of a question of not going into the wrong neighborhood if you are white in the US, because there is so much racism against whites now, but if you are not the "wrong" race then most of those neighborhoods you aren't actually likely to be victimized in, lol. If you are a foreigner you are generally ignorant of the "danger" that surrounds you and so you just think everything is great. The odds of something bad happening is still low, even though it might be 10x what the odds are in a better neighborhood, it is still low even in most bad neighborhoods in the world, or else people couldn't live there. It is not like a war zone, which do exist, and people can't live there because you really do get killed probably if you go there....... The one and only. |

You can stop pretending as if our cities actually look like that, there is not a violent riot going on in all of our cities every night. Also according to wikipedia, the trend for violent crime in belgium is strongly downward and the murder rate is stable. The source is in french so I can't confirm it, but it is described as "official numbers" |

People also don't use the subway to come back from work anymore. The whole subway system in Brussels was built especially for travelling working people and is completely useless now at night because everyone is too scared to use it, but we still get charged taxes daily after people, usually immigrants, totally trash it every night. I went to school with the bus because the subway was too violent. That would have never happened 20 years ago.

Cool story bro. Let's all blame the poor immigrants fleeing from a country where they were mistreated to a country where they won't get anything but a shit job and shit place to live in because of discrimination and racism. Because the problem can of course not be the fact that the country they come to act like completely shitheads begging for riots. Regarding that dumb racism and riots you're discussing, you fucking racists are the source of it. By discriminating and acting like someone who wants to get beat up you cause these riots. |

I was suprised by the number of people in this thread who attributed all Britains woes to racism. (I notice none of them were British). I don't know why I was surprised given I post here regulalry of course. It says a lot more about you than it does about us in my opinion. Personally I am more inclined to attribute that statistic to the impending election than to any reflection of British culture. It's propaganda designed to undermine the current governments record on crime and was compiled by the opposition party. Nobody who lives here took it in anyway seriously. Just the usual politics lies.
As for Americans being polite to each other? They don't even say "please" or "thank you". Pop along to Europe or Asia to find out how polite strangers can be. I carry a gun for most of the day, but I don't take one out with me when I am meeting strangers. I prefer to use my good manners to assuage any hostile reactions. It doesn't matter that you might be packing or not, I won't be, so I will be more inclined to be polite. |

Polite, no. Non-confrontational is a better adjective. Sorry to bring up this stereotype, but I totally got this image from the orange text: www.youtube.com/watch

While nazism had elements from both left and right, they were fascists. Fascism is usually described as far right. |

We even get called that by some of our own when we talk about sealing up our border. Common stories all around I suppose. =============================== |
