Mandalorians....I think we have our new "Empire" class. "If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike" |

People don't differ between their preferrences and what can be in the game. I hate Mandalorians. Fighting for the sake of, is even worse than Sith. A Sith is at least driven by anger and passion to rule. Fighting because of some abstract concept like "to better yourself" is just absurd. In our world you call these guys Taliban. It is a bad excuse for sadism. Why anyone would want to play such a lot, is as beyond me as if anyone said he wanted to play El'Qaeda warriors in a game. But I would not mind if they were in or not. Its their choice. No one force me to play Mandalorian. On a sidenote, I think reviving the Mandalorians is a sort of wrong. After KOTOR II it was quite clear they would go into a constant decline until "all that remains is the shell of a man in the shell of an armor, all to easy slain by a Jedi". Its kinda turning the supposed history upside down. The prophecy of Kreia was clear enough about that. |

Taliban? You're so off here Elikal. They're more like Spartans or Achilles and the Myrmidons. ![]() Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

Taliban? You're so off here Elikal. They're more like Spartans or Achilles and the Myrmidons. Yea man Mandalorians are an awsome warrior society. I am positive there are more people for Mandalorians as a class then not. Bioware would be stupid not to think of this theres so much versatility in the Mandos, they could easily fit into range or melee depending what you want to do or even a hybrid with a blaster in one hand vibroblade in the other. I would love to see this just so the melee combat isnt just filled with shiny lights making cool sounds. |
|
|
Or like Vikings? Their whole society was built around War. Even the afterlife. Definitely historical real world parallels. |
|
|
Let's not forget the nomadic martial artists of Asian history, constantly testing themselves against each other. Some people just don't understand the mind of a true warrior, I suppose.

You are a fool, this is not cowardly, yellow, liberal retard, 2009 real life, it's Star Wars, a Sci-Fi/Fantasy IP about war, fighting, backstabbing ect. The Madalorian way is similar to peoples from our own History like the Vikings, Highalnders, Spartans and countless others. This takes place in a Universe where there are countless peoples with different ways of doing things but you liberal left wing idiots can't have anyone or anything doing anything you don't agree with, even video games or movies and it's sad.

Ok, I will admit, I have a strong prejudice towards that Nitzschean ideals of "building character by war" in ANY form. The reality of it always was harsh and terrible, and movies like 300 still idolize something that in everyday reality was cruel by any standards we hold. In terms of SW, I am all the way Jedi. I believe in civilization, in democracy, in pacifism. Values of war and violence abhorr me, and call me narrow minded, but for ME, it is utterly beyond imagination why anyone would want to play something like a Mandalorian terrorist or a Sith Lord... even "just for fun". SInce when is Nazi-human-experiment-doctor become a fun class to play? Sorry for the controversial posting, and in reality I am not that moralistic as this might come over. It is just an endless wonder to me. I regard my game personae as a sort of extension of myself, a sort of "who would I be in another world". I act as I would act. I vividly recally playing Planescape Torment a 2nd time, after I played all goody good, I wanted to experience the evil way. It didnt last long, as always. I ended with that woman, who was a slave now due to money debt, but it was all forged. In the good way, you helped her, and now, I was about to bring her even deeper in trouble... and I just COULD NOT DO IT. It was a pixel woman, yes, but I just felt bad. My moral instinct went all against it, game or not. So from that position, the idea to play "evil" in any form... it is something I can not grasp entirely. Now I don't make a crusade of this. I dont fight against games which allow evil as pathway. It is just... unimaginable to me, like... I dunno, cutting away my fingers "for fun" would be.
EDIT: And Vikings were not better, lol. They maimed and slaughtered innocent people to "prove themselves". Look at the Mandalorians. They burned entire Planets, just to make the Republic join their fight in full force. They forced violence on others. Now if they would follow the warlike war, and just make war with other warlike people, fine with me. But neither Vikings nor Mandalorians were those "noble warriors", we make of such people. Those things are myth. Ok, sorry... I feel like ruining kids their play. I think it is not fair to bring in reality and be such a spoilsport. But as I said... I can't help but wonder. Being a historian I know too much of the details of war in the past, and trust me, Yoda was perfectly right when he said "wars not make one great".
EDIT 2: Note to self: whoa, how did I just make an alignment shift back to Chaotic Good? Damn... |

That's my kinda Jedi right there... ![]() Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

Yes, I liked him very much. "Thats why I have a 2nd Lightsaber". Very cool. :) It's the the thing I don't like with the Jedi, they put rules above the purpose of rules. The Sabbath was made for men, not men for the Sabbath. Ya know I grew up in the late Hippie era, and my parents were from that background. I am no total pacifist anymore, these days. Some things have to be defended with force. But aggression always spooked me. I sort of inhaled the Yoda-philosophy that a Jedi only defends. That idea is a sort of reflection of that 70ies spirit. But being the anarchist I am, I am not sure I would really make a good jedi. I hate authority in every form, lol. (That includes being an authority; I was twice in that position, and I hated giving people orders, EVEN when they wanted orders from me.) To make a long topic short: I only play what I find inside of me. I try to find out "how would I fare in this setting". The concept of "how would someone else - like an evil Sith - fare in this world" always was of null interest to me. Oh well... I am sure I bore you guys numb, lol. >< |

I don't get why they even bother with story in Star Wars anymore it's just so bad with so many plot holes. |
