by firing four missiles off its east coast.  Four missiles presumably to symbolize the 4th of July.  Thanks Kim Jong Il for showing your solidarity with the US by your dazzling fireworks display.  Just watch where you point those things.  Remember missiles can be dangerous when not handled by a licensed professional.

Sounds reasonable, doesn't it?  What other reason could there be for firing rockets on this special day?

Kim's father died on the 4th of July.  They do missile tests every year on the anniversary.  It is unrelated to the American July 4th celebrations.

North Korea test-fired a seventh missile on Saturday from its base on the east coast, South Korea's defence ministry said.

The missile fired at 5.40 pm (0840 GMT) had the same range as the six fired earlier in the day, a spokesman said.

North Korea fired the seven missiles over the course of the day.

The original plan was for a simultaneous launch.

A spokesman for North Korea, before the launch, warned all ships to stay out of the Sea of Japan because, "We really aren't sure where they will come down".

After the launch North Korea declared the launch a resounding success, citing all of the missiles as having landed in their target.

These seven misslies now join a North Korean satellite that was successfully launched into the Sea of Japan last month.

You say seven missiles. Someone else says six. The OP says four. This is all from the same event, lol.

The point I'm trying to make is no one knows how many for sure. All we know is North Korea fired several missiles. I'm not sure why the OP ran in here to post that, when a careful check of most reputable sources could have told him this information is all sketchy now.

Get your facts straight.  Kim Il-Sung died on the the 8TH OF JULY not the 4th of July.  Amazing how people just make stuff up to suit their theories, kind of like man made global warming.

because N. korea is firing more missiles. They didnt fire all 7 at one time, they send one off at a time. Thus the reason why the number got bigger since the OP's post.

Which just shows why this is a sensationalist post. He does this all the time and we'll be counting missiles every hour apparently.

lol thats funny .... popinjay calling someone else's thread sensationalist....

If you read the op it had sarcasm and i thought it was meant to be funny, and to let people know N.korea is shooting off rockets. But i guess i'm just completely taking the thread at face value and not looking 10 layers under it like what some people seem to do alot and come off as trolls or someone with an agenda.....

Yes, it was four missiles at the time I posted the link and the number currently stands at seven.  I guess they were having such a good time, they just didn't want the fun to end.  They are partying like it's December 21, 2012.

As far as I know not a single missile was fired to celebrate the swedish national day! This is madness! I shall gather 300 vikings and go kill that evil Kim Jong II! I'll do it in alternating slow and fast motion, without anything on my chest.

If you took his thread at "face value", you wouldn't be looking for any underlying sarcasm or humor, correct?

You'd be reading it for what he actually wrote, not what he meant. That's "face value". Your peering into his underlying possible humor is looking under the layer.

Um, you know he said he would launch one aimed at Hawaii right? And no... NK  doesn't always do this as far as I know.

I wish he would have tried...  Imagine the shame if we had shot down his missle.  We'd all be shouting "U S A!! USA!!" so loud as a nation he'd hear it over there!
