So I was in the last couple betas for Aion.  Was psyched to test again this weekend.

I get home from work, launch the game, enter my user & pass.....and get a popup message saying

This account does not have access to Aion

I login to PlayNC account management, see that Aion is listed.  Login to the BETA forums, yep still have access there too.

I submit a ticket to support, and just got a message from a GM saying that my account had access to the first to betas, but my key "expired" and the only way I can get a beta key is to preorder the game.

I'm sorry, but forcing testers to BUY a game to TEST is ridiculous.  Its really a shame, since I was looking forward to Aion, but these tactics are bad business.

It's not bad business, you already tested the game the first two beta events, that should be enough to tell you if you like it or not, I mean, it took me 2 hours in-game and I've already preordered it.

Ok , now this is just QQ , they allow many to test for free using beta keys given out for free to many sites and i think file planet is still giving them out . even if not pop down 5 bucks at the local game store and get a pre order  for all acess to betas if you hate it get your money back.. I don't know what is up now adays people want everything free , and NOW. These gaming companies can't just open the door and lets all join in on 2 beta servers..

Maybe QQ, just wondering why this info wasn't even posted by GMs until 6PM today.  I heard about the Fileplanet keys, but didn't bother to go because I thought I was IN the beta already.

Oh and the FP keys are gone.

 Keys given out that expired were explained that would only work on the first CB, yet they allowed them to work on the second CB.

On the third CB they did what they had already stated would be done - you need a full beta access, and it's true pre-ordering the game is the best way to do it.

Haven't you tested the game enough to know if you enjoy it or not?

Anyway, preordering the game is not a sealed commitment of purchase - most retailers allow you to cancel your preorder before release, so it's not like they are forcing you to pay. In fact they are giving you many opportunities to try out the game before dishing out the $50, yet you complain, maybe you don't understand very well the concept of preorders.

Remember there will also be Open Betas, these are only Closed Betas. So you will still have a chance to play for free and decide for yourself, even if you find out the idea of preordering the game with the possibility of canceling the order anytime before release a marketing scam (which is in fact a good strategy for the CONSUMER, not the developer that could be raping your pockets with item malls or forcing you to really buy the retail game without any kind of trial or cancel refund).

mmorpg keys were only for 2 betas .initally it was for one .but plaync extended it to next beta .if you are thta much enthuisast .google and many companies are offering the keys for 7 dollars.now dont tell me you cant afford 7 dollars??

I did not know the key was only valid for the first couple of betas. I will be going to game stop and pre ordering today though.

Why does everyone always flip shit about having to pre order games to get Beta access. If you shop at Gamestop and have 5 dollars to your name go put the money down and get your little card with your code. Go right back the next day and either cancel your pre order or move that 5 dollars to another pre order. Most of the time the kids at game stop could care less about their jobs, as long as their getting 1 per order a day their happy. Its only 5 bucks and if you cant hack driving to the store putting the money on the counter, moving air from your lungs and driving home, you should probably reconsider putting out the effort to even play games.

My account always says that when the beta isnt open yet. Maybe he/she just got home to early or if thats the beta im thinking of i think they were having server issues bc i logged on one min got off to eat and when i came back it was giving me that msg so idk.
