One of my favorite Anime's is titled Ghost in the Shell. It's one of few anime that doesnt use flash backgrounds for fight seen's. This lead me wonder if they made a MMO based on it how many people would play it?
"Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?" |

Most people don't know what it is. More explanation or /thread This is a message to the general populace of MMORPG.com as it is literally a black hole of fun that once you are swallowed up by, it is very hard to escape and makes everything in gaming a little less fun. Best thing you can do is do your own research and stop reading these boards because nothing will ever be good enough and everything will suck always forever if it makes its way into a discussion here. |

The anime, Samurai 7 (which is based off the classic 7 Samurai by Akira Kurosawa), I think would make a great MMO world. I think a FMA (full metal alchemist) could possibly do well. the anime showed alchemy could be used in many different ways, could make for some interesting gameplay if you ask me. |

I dont know if ghost in the shell woudl work. but I love that series and cyberpunk. So I would try it. Fact is, with the failing of Matrix, there really isnt a good cyberpunk MMO out there. GITS probably would be welcomed to fit that void ...anything but yet another fantasy MMO

Fma is probably the best choice for an anime to MMo transition. But it probably won't ever happen, we can hope though. Samurai7 sucked to me, The movie was great, but the series in general did not catch my attention and overall seemed boring. Though I loved its concept. |

There is room on the market for a good cyberpunk mmo, ghost in the shell is as good a setting as any I suppose. But I think I'd prefer something that's made up from scratch, there is such a lot of good litterature to draw inspiration from that it's unnecessary to base it of a single IP. Just borrow liberally from William Gibson, Neal Stephenson and Richard Morgan and it would be easy enough to come up with a good setting. |

As for a Ghost in the shell MMO, if it was done right and handled well it would be nice, futuristic cyberpunk isn't exactly something seen in most MMOs, so it would be a rather unique setting. |
