While the concept of a comedy MMO might work, it would be a very small niche market for most of the reasons mentioned above.
You want innovation, try a romance MMO. Ya a Romance. Not as stupid as it might sound. How many people watch the same "Daytime Drama" for years, decades even. How many players want to have a romantic element added to their games? KOTOR had it, so have many other games.
The Female market could be explosive to MMOs, they aren't as flighty as their male counterparts and tend to be very loyal to the shows, games, and brands they enjoy.
The MMO space is uniquely suited to that market segment though no one has ever shown interest in developing a game to their tastes. Women like the social aspects of games more than most males do, yet most games gloss over those very interactions. Im not talking about making a porno MMO but one more based in socialization and much less based on violence. |

There are many, "joke" MMOs out there. no need for one. |

You mean, something like a shop where you buy balloons off of Kolumbo's pierced nipples? Balloons being the weapon of choice, naturally. Obviously, one has to be there to believe it. Then yes, we've been making one of those. WetVille is more 4lfa than Alphaville -> ville.wetgenes.com/#.tv http://ville.wetgenes.com/#tv |

Judging by that picture, Papa Smurf has some weird dreams. |

I think there should be more humor in existing and up and coming MMO's but I would never pay for an MMO just based on comedy.

Why no geek humor MMO? Simple. Geek humor sucks. Case in point: Chuck Norris jokes, Rick Astley music videos, and every other stupid Meme that was only funny the first time and then got savagely raped to unfunnyhood like the dead horse that it was. Why does it hurt when I pee? |

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series have all the ingredients for a comedy MMO. Anyone who played fantasy based MMO's or read Tolkien will find those stories very recognisable. And funny if you like British comedy. I cant think of other franchises that have enough comedy material for a MMO. |

The idea of a comedy MMO is not bad at all. But one point to be considered is that most of the games these days are built to entertain people worldwide. And we know that every country have it's own sense of humor.
