SCULLY: What do you think? MULDER: I can''t believe how much faith we put in machines. |
This is just my impression of Mythic, but I always had the notion that Mark Jacobs pretty much was the center of the whole operations. I'm just wondering what the future of Mythic is now that Jacobs is gone... What do you guys think? I don't feel like I have any kind of loyalt to them anymore, that's for sure. They seem like Wal-Mart now to me. How can anyone care about the future of a behemoth corporation? ----------------------- |

First let me giggle at your /obama silliness....the guy seriously hasn't changed jack. It makes me giggle uncontrollably.....and sad.
Anyway, as for Mythic? Meh, Jacobs lost his vision or his balls. Warhammer was screwed up because of either horrible management or because he wasn't allowed to do what he wanted, i'm guessing the former. The rest of the devs still have skill and experience in the industry and have turned out two games now. Not something a lot of people can say. The chances are Mythic will either receive a new head recruited for the job or they'll be dissolved into a different studio. They may be put under Bioware for the most part, who knows. Having experienced professionals work under you is always good, it's not like it's their fault a project is mis-managed.
We'll see. |

Well, Mythic is essentially being managed by BioWare's CEO now, the top dog for the merging. BioWare is one of the best video game developers out there, and I'm sure he'll keep Mythics reputation for churning out great PvP-oriented MMOs. |

I hope your right. I really would like to see one of two things. Either a DAoC 2, or some kind of Mythic account where you can play both games for a lowered price. Like the Station Pass kind of. I think that would resurrect DAoC and give both of the games a boost. That might buy the developers some time to improve upon them. I hate to see DAoC die. I just wish they'd liven up the PvE experience. It's booooring today. I think one of the two options I put up would help. ----------------------- |

Mark Jacobs, DAoC,.....kicked out by EA Richard Garriott, Ultima Online, ....Tabula Rasa failure Brad McQuaid, Everquest.....Vanguard failure
I just thought it's a rather peculiar pattern. |

A DAoC 2 or, a spiritual successor (which WAR should have been) would be ideal. DAoC is fun, but it's becoming outdated and a bit dry. it was more successful than WAR in its prime (if you adjust for inflation and crap), so DAoC 2 or something similar would be logical. |

Ahhh, see I didn't know that. Alright then, at least we're agreed! I really don't know how people thought a guy with so little experience wouldn't turn out to just be a figurehead for his party. I knew he was going to win though, I'm a realist. Young, black, charismatic guy that is also eloquent....yeah, of course he was going to win. Bush was just a complete moron, not like I supported him either.
Back on topic: So Bioware has already basically taken over the Mythic crew? Hadn't heard that, just figured that's what would happen. Good to know though. He's a really smart guy and has seen to it Bioware as released really good MMO's. I'm looking forward to Dragon Age....mmmm....Dragon Age. With any luck maybe Warhammer might get turned around, but I'm not going to hold my breathe. What makes me shakey about TOR is how there are so many SWG people involved with it. I hate those asshats and am wary of what they're going to do. |

The message I took away from the press release was that Mythic is has been integrated into the Bioware studio. Meaning EA Mythic is no more. |

I imagine the same thing will happen to Mythic that also happened to Origins. Not right away, but in time. |

This a pretty decent misconception of the whole Bioware and Mythic thing. EA is just putting them under a newly formed MMO division with in EA, which Muzyka of Bioware will be head of. Bioware and Mythic will still remain their own independent studios. Bioware will have no say what Mythic does, with Warhammer. Even if Bioware could... they still have The Old Republic to worry about. For Jacobs leaving.. eh doesn't mean a bad thing. But I will still expect Mythic to keep up the same bullshit. |

A DAoC 2 would be an easy sell. The main beef I had with the original was the botters. I could even tolerate Trials of Atlantis. DAoC to me was something special in its time. It also happened to be the last time I enjoyed any form of pvp. The RvR was wonderful it actually felt like it had a purpose and who didn't love sitting in darkness falls popping hibbies as they ran in. |
