I don't think you have to download the client from fileplanet though, when I entered the key at NCsott's webpage it gave me the option to download it there.

The bulk of the game is downloaded through the ncsoft launcher, and I would really recommend starting it now. Before the first beta weekend, things were getting pretty bogged down. But no worries, it was worth the wait!

Ah, Didn't know it worked for free accoutns, when you clicked the aion thing before the keys were out it asked if you wanted to subscribe, but hey, at least everyone can get it now.

Mind you it was Open Beta and not Closed but it's still beta ;)

It's my understanding that they will be wiped, and this makes sense as one of the percs for preordering is early access and the ability to reserve character names.. Can't really reserve a character name if they didn't do a character wipe, at least I wouldn't think so...
