Grand Theft Auto meets mmo = the new kid on the block. Every knuckle head is gonna get this game as is everyone that wants to put him or her down. HUGE potential.

I would highly doubt it. The main reason is the largest portion of western MMO players is casual players. Many of these casual players are turned off by the idea of playing a game that is entirely player vs player and focused around mindless violence and crime. That very reason will keep it from being the largest ever (in terms of western numbers).

That being said, depending on how this turns out in the end it is definetly currently on my list of games to keep an eye on and try out. The premise sounds fun, and the customization sounds fairly detailed which is always enjoyable. I've been waiting for a game to use some VOIP with 3D sound, surprised it was an MMO first (or maybe I missed one before this).

Like all games now a days it does sound really interesting and fun, so I will avoid getting my hopes up until all the details are out.

No, I disagree.  First, our common ground is that we're looking forward to the game. But, pvp-centric, and I mean a plyer-influenced ecosystem mmorpg's dont attract a majority because of mindless violence and crime themes.  Its because such platforms are highly competitive, unsuspecting in game-play, are highly unpredictable because your playing against a dynamic player(s) that might be able to relentless out-play you, where numbers matter and running up against players that outnumber you and your friend or you alone is a losing proposition, and the dynamic of freedom without the safety of a tethered mob that like a dog on a leash will only pursue you so far, etc.

Every mmorpg we'replaying now is violent and most consist of mindlessly redundent events of whacking, rinsing and repeating the same beat-down on the same coded static mobs, or variation of the same mobs, repeatedly game session after game session; for the most part.

And I disagree because you are going to need a top end computer to play this game. Not enough people have that to give this title huge numbers.

That said, hearing all the details from E3 interviews, APB sounds innovative and daring. I hope it finds it's audience.

Greatest threat to society is letting casualties of puberty reproduce.

It should be a nice niche game. Really  does not sound like something for older gamers though. This screams to  teenagers looking to unleash frustration.

Unreal Engine 3 doesn't need a top end PC.

You may not be able to run everything at Max. But that doesn't mean it needs a top end PC.

Cheers

Agreed, though I hope this game does well; APB won't draw in nearly as much numbers as WoW. Before you guys jump on me allow me to explain; WoW is a game with mediocre graphics and really doesn't require a high end PC to run it. WoW if anything is more RAM heavy than vid card. Not many players will be able to run this game without upgrading or buying a new rig due to the ridiculous graphics, but will still have a decent size player base like Age of Conan at launch. Though the Unreal 3 engine doesn't need a high end card to run it, I think it will still require some upgrades seeing as some people out there are playing WoW with a 1994 Dell or w/e lol, dated PCs like that will require a massive overhaul or a complete replacement.  I wouldn't expect any block busting numbers anytime soon, however given enough time it is possible.

Current MMO: Aion
MMO Watch: Warhammer 40k Online, SWToR, GW2.
Played: Planetside, SWG, EQ, EQ2, L2, WoW, RFO, KAL, MxO, Voyage, RO,Vanguard,Tabula Rasa, Horizons, CoH/CoV,, Lotro, FFXI
First MMO: Everquest (Tunare Server, Ronin/Tide Guild)

I don't understand all the negativity. APB seems like a breath of fresh air to a tremendously stale MMO market. I'm lacking some knowledge here, but how is this game making it's way without being sued for infringement by Rockstar? (I'm sure there is an common sense answer)

Will this game  compete subscriber wise with licenses like Star Trek and Star Wars coming out? Probably not, however  I'd be willing to bet that if the game turns out solid it might suprise a few folks.
