You just can't win sometimes it seems. First people say that AoC sucks and game play is horrible so they listen and make changes and now people say they ruined the game or look the game sucks because they are doing a radical overhaul of it. Will this make AoC a better game? More playable? Hard to say until people have spent some time playing it but doing nothing certainly isn't the way to survive. You can make changes for lots of reasons. The content has gotten old and tired for the current population. There design issues. There were technical issues. You just plain screwed up. Sometimes all of the above. Can the changes end up causing more problems? Oh yeah especially if the changes are because of basic flaws in the game and you haven't actually figured out what was wrong let alone how to fix it. But, doing something is better than doing nothing so I will hope that this works out for AoC and might even give it a try to see for myself. |

Originally posted by clearSam i would love to see Funcom launching a vet win back program, a 2 weeks free trial or something... i think they deserve it and Funcom owes it to them especially those who played at launch. Also it is more likely that they will stick around if given a free trial cause 1.05 has most of what they have been asking for. so i think it is a good idea and a win win situation.
They just did a 30 day vet win back program for AO. Those who came back got met with massive lag and disconnects ( RK3 even got totally brought down ) due to a script kiddy hammering the database with a chat bot last week, followed by a massively broken patch yesterday which removed players XP, perks, research, levels, etc., which caused a rollback to be necessary, and the /petition system being offline so they couldn't even contact an ARK/GM ingame. You really sure you want them to try the same for AoC? |

Ofc you're not alone in finding the changes with the new patch decent, the biggest group is as always the silent majority. Nay-sayers will always scream the loudest. Just look at this forum... |

No kidding haha. It's funny that for every one whiner around here, that just won't even attempt to accept change (a change that was necessary in the long run, no less), there's like 10+ people who understand, accept, and for the most part, even welcome the new changes. What does that tell you? I'll admit that what SOE did with the NGE was terrible, and in all honestly, it's the only time I've ever quit a game based on a drastic change, but to compare the 1.05 patch to the NGE is just ridiculous. That's an apples to oranges comparison, bar none. "If one person believes in a being that will take him to a new world when he dies, they label him mad, if many do it they call it religion." |

Fact all those things did happen in ao. Do we really need to post links and etc? Things you should know about Funcom before you subscribe to their games. HGC & Funcom RX & FC expose video & AO players dire warnings about aoc ignored by fanbois. |

Well the latest patch has brought me back as a customer and I'm enjoying the game once again, I see this patch as no bad thing at all, and comparing it to the CU/NGE of SWG is ludicrous, the CU patch made me quit within the month, the AoC patch actually brought me back.

I take it you either:
A. Haven't played it for more then five minutes. B. Haven't switched from one of your old specs that might have changed. C. Never tested it on TL. or D. Have never played the game.
This isn't an NGE by any definition of that term.
Guilds that I haven't seen in months have returned and are staying. Trial member feedback has also been positive in game.
No patch is perfect but the majority widely agrees this is their best patch to date. You're never going to please everyone 100%. You're also always going to have the whiners that do more complaining then playing and learning how to the play.

For the ones that were around for the SWG:NGE ... did you ever really play it? Have you played AoC with their new 1.05 patch? I suspect that the people who think that the two are the same have played neither. NGE changed the whole game. 1.05 made AoC better but kept the same base game alive. Not the same at all as anyone who really knew what they were talking about would know.
