Tabula Rasa was probably the biggest dissapointment just because it sucked big time and it was made to sound really cool. I was also kinda dissapointed with WAR and Darkfall would have been the biggest dissapointment but I wasn't excited about it to begin with. Playing: Aion |

EQ & EQ2 going from P2P to P2P with an item mall. |

I only played it for a couple months but am considering returning now that the Call to Arms expansion is complete. |

SWG was the BIGGEST let down ever idc what you say because it had us fans work long and hard for our jedis then they let corrupted devs destroy the true vision they had for the game. biggest dissapointment ever

Every MMO released in the last 4 years. All have been mediocre, all haven't pushed any boundaries of innovation, all have been more of the same of what's come before. Only players they stay with them and think they're the best are those who've just come to the MMO genre in the last 4 years. |

Planetside: in that SOE left it to die on a shelf. One of the best in its prime. Want a 21 day free trial for Eve online? PM me. |

Biggest flop for me was loosing the pre-cu system in swg. Major runners up: Dark and Light, Vanguard, The way SOE have left planetside (Awesome game). Honorable Mentions: Darkfall, Age of Conan, The Matrix Online, RF Online. |

biggest for me, is what they did to SWG. was awesome when it first came out...they should have left it how it was and fixed the bugs. completely changing the game doesnt repair the bugs. i wish soe would learn from their mistakes, but they did the same thing to planetside, eq2, and vanguard. |

SWG before the changes was losing thousands of subs a month only the true hardcore were still planning to play. Bugs werent the only reason people were leaving. |

EQ2 for me....was a good game, solid in fact. lots of polish and plenty of content. But i was epecting Everquest 2! what i got was bombarded with quests to make it really easy. was good for a few months but then i realised there was no achievment to be had anymore. Since then any game i have played other that the "d" word has been way too easy and no achievments to be had. Sure there are plenty of quest rewards, title's etc but nothing that really makes you sit up and say "hey that guy has a BBC! ...whoa he must be either lucky or a great player" ( back in old EQ that is) for every top item i gain in games these days, i walk round the corner and there are 20 more players with the same item....same goe's for titles or anything else. |

My biggest let down would be Lord of the Rings Online. It is a good game I guess, just not what I was expecting and not my idea of what the Middle Earth experience could have been.Thought it should have been a little grittier and Darker. More inventive gameplay-wise considering the strength of the IP. |

WoW is my biggist let down . I heard so much about the game that i tryed it and sure the first 50 lvls were fun but after that it was pure rubbish with pvp being so one sided its a joke . All you need at high lvl is the right class and the right gear the skill lvl is zero. 2nd was war and 3rd was aoc |

To be honest, I've played loads of MMOs hoping they would keep me hooked for a while... Even though I got bored of most within a few months, I still feel I got my money's worth and enjoyed myself while it lasted (Like WAR, AoC, WoW etc..) The biggest disappointment for me was Roma Victor... I expected it to be pretty good, what with the skill based system etc... It turned out to be so unfinished and broken it wasn't even funny. I laugh SO hard when people say games like WAR or any other new MMO are "broken" or "unfinished". Sure, they have teething problems but Roma Victor... all the items had dodgy names like urn_a or apple_b. The lag was unbearable, literally a few minutes lag at times. You'd run to harvest something, and you'd have to wait a couple of minutes before the server registered where you were That game was AWFUL. MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, Warhammer Online, City of Villains / Heroes, World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, Guild Wars, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor |

I didn't even get out of the AoC free trial... but I didn't expect much going in much like Tabula Rasa and a couple others. I think biggest letdown is all about hype... City of Heros I only played about 4 months but I expected nothing going into that game and was often pleasantly surprised and it held my interest longer than I ever expected. I think Warhammer is moving towards the top of my list but mainly because I had such high hopes going in after the great PvP game DAOC was and the more fantasy setting Warhammer has. Fight my Brute Clicky!! |

EQ2 hands down. I was never more excited about a game then EQ2. Awful memory leak at launch, horribly coded graphics engine. Heavily instanced, sterile and unengaging game world. Absolutely retarded combat mechanics and lackluster spell effects. Watered down and non-distinct classes...which was good because $$$ Smedley only allowed you 4 character slots and charged for extras. And last but not least shallow game play with 0 fun factor. In case you can't tell, I really hated EQ2. People forget in 2004 EQ - SOE was like GM in the 1960s. EQ2 = GM in the 70s and beyond, WoW =Toyota and Honda. |

For me personally, it was Anarchy Online. Keep in mind, this was way back when your choice for MMO genre was fantasy, fantasy, and...let me think...oh yeah..more fantasy. I was SOOO excited for a sci-fi MMO. And it was completely unplayable. But it certainly taught me a lesson about not getting too hopeful about new MMO's. |

Warhammer for me. I never bought into hype with MMOs out of the 10 long years I've been playing them, until Warhammer. I jumped on the hype train. Once I bought it I was seriously disappointed. Once I got to 40 and realm rank 48 I realized it was the biggest waste of money I've ever thrown at a game. Usually I wait for reviews, play a beta, etc before I throw away my money. Needless to say I will never buy into hype again. No matter how some random words it or some marketing suit lies about it. |

3-way tie SWG Vanguard DF Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them. |

Originally posted by Hashbrick There was a lot of hype about Vanguard being the next generation mmo, 4th generation mmo or whatever other leap forward was being claimed at the time. Vanguard may never have been directly aimed at being a wow killer, but the hype and/or intention was certainly there to make a game that was going to raise above current mmos and somehow transform the genre to the next level. That all started to change to a message of "we will be happy with just core gamers" when things started to turn sour around the time of the MS/SOE change over and it was obvious the game was in trouble (internally).
