I'll get straight the point. I don't want to write a wall a text and you don't want a read it.
Each of the three times I've returned to this game, my reasons for leaving are all similar. Nothing to do.
Well, I'm getting the MMORPG itch again, and I heard a game changing patch has hit the game, adding new end game content and apparently, the ability to make a fresh level 50 if you have a level 80 character (one time). For those kind enough to give my input, let me detail my reasons for leaving before.
1 - Lack of content at level 80 : Nobody was really grouping for anything. Onyx chambers? Nobody, no matter what I did I could find no group. 2 - Convoluted Combat : Ive been playing MMORPGs for awhile, but I've never seen an MMORPG with so much micromanagement. I hated playing my level 80 Barbarian, Weapon swapping, stance dancing, a giant cornucopia of self buffs and skills to use... After being away from the game for so long, It was too much to relearn.
Thinking on it, I think those two were the only major reasons, I tried starting new characters but ... I don't know, I didn't really feel like doing a giant level grind in a world full of exploiting D-bags farming graveyards for easy PVP levels. |

I re-tried the game about a month or so ago and it really hasn't changed all that much.
Lot's of graveyard campers still. PvP was still a joke and probably still is. Don't waste your time and money on it again, try something new. There's a whole bunch of F2P's out there that aren't bad. You could try to get into some beta's, play America's Army 3 if you're into fps's, it's a little buggy, but it's free and still fun. I would honestly sooner suggest going back to WoW than I would AoC. That's just how much I believe the game is unsalvageable. |

I resubbed to check out the changes in 1.05, they did a lot of work and changes to how the classes work and how stats work but the gameplay is still basically the same. Pvp is even more focused on minigames now that they give XP rewards for winning and losing them. I went back and made a level 50 demo and did some questing but soon got bored as I had already levelled 3 characters through those zones. I logged onto my main and did some minigames and soon got bored of that too since I had been doing that non stop before I stopped playing.

Well this patch doesnt address what you had a problem with. 1.06 will add more raid content and endgame content, might want to wait for that patch. As far as having nobody to do the content that is in game now seems like more of a guild related problem, or a plays too much problem. I dont have any problem finding raid groups because my guild raids on a schedule. If there is room in the raid after all our guild members on join, we get non guild members. However the raids got much more difficult, so being in a guild that regularly drops raid bosses will gurantee a full raid. They also added a Tarantia Commons, a level 75+ pvpers area. community.ageofconan.com/wsp/conan/frontend.cgi heres is the description (makes you do the whole select region+date of birth before veiwing it -.-) As far as "convoluted combat" goes...well never heard a complaint about having too many skills or too many ways to fight. To me, your description of the barbarian is close to selling me on that class for my "free level 50 character" sounds really complex and entertaining. You didnt like levelgrinding....wait grinding? How long ago was your third try? This game is far from a grind by any measure, or at least it is now. And yes, plenty of d-bags farming people on the pvp servers, check out a pve server....you can still pvp in the commons/mini games/guild sieges ect, just not all over the place. I could tell you to try it again, but i cant help but think that mabey a fps would be more your style. |

Thanks for the input everyone, I think I may be done with MMORPGs. I play a lot of TF2 these days, whilst working on creating my very own game. I've messed around with Runes of Magic; and it's pretty good for F2P game... I mainly considered coming back because of the opinions of a few people on a certain forum I lurk. The free level 50 deal also seemed appealing to someone who really, really doesnt want to bother with tortage again.

i was thinking about going back myself. I made a free trial account and started playing it to see if i really would want to go back. My main characters where in their 30's when i stopped playing the first time. One thing that started bugging me is how many levels the game has. I really dont feel like leveling anything to 80. Games that are 50-60 levels have enough levels IMHO. It is tough enough to level from 60-80 when they put out an expansion pack .. Thats why i usually stop and never go back to games that have went from level 50 or 60 to higher levels be it 80 or more. Cant games get more content etc with out making the level cap higher ? Guess not, because most of the games out there are over once the questing and leveling is over. So sad really. Im taking a break from MMO's until a game comes out where i can play instead of grind be it for levels or gear .. there has to be more to games than just those 2 concepts. We as consumers are making it all to easy for them to just put out junk because we will play them instead of demand better. You would think developers would learn when games close faster than it took to make them. |

I like the setting, the classes are different from the rest of the mmos out there, the problem I had with the game the last time was the lack of people but apparently things are supposed to be better now. I'll be trying it again and rolling on Set server this time. Hopefully it will better, if not then no big deal. I still have plenty of Xbox 360 games left to play. |

While I do love Bioware RPGs, I'm almost certain TOR will be awful. Sorry.
Just took a look at the new video that was posted for the patch, and I must say it sounds very interesting... The new area I mean. |

I really enjoy this game, so I would say; NO! Don't play this game. It has gotten better in so many ways, but it's still the same game. If u disliked the game enough to leave three times already, then it's probably not for you. Find something you like to do/play, and do that rather than bang your head against the wall. |
