This is a classic and disappointing Aventurine move for those that might have carried over to the North American server.
Not only do those that want to play on a NA server have to re-purchase the client for $50, for those that rather wait 3 months for a character transfer, are going to be hit with a transfer fee that, I bet the farm, will be no different than had that player purchased a new client.
This is rich. |

I used to defend AV from all you, the MMORPG community. Fuck was I ever wrong. /cancel To top it off: I was wrong, you guys were right. |

It's a smart move for them to charge again, most of the player base will complain but in the end they'll still pay.....and AV could use the cash influx. Smart business move on their part, for sure.

TBH, I expected some gloating from Darkfall defenders over the official NA server launch date after critics said it would never happen, but after reading threads here and on the official forums, it's probably a good thing they don't. |

The DF boards are exploding. |

This will accually work out for me. I thought i was going to have to delete my EU character, since its only one character per account. Since he is already a decent character I can just sell him and make a new account. I guess its one way to keep the EU server alive. |

It will no doubt gain them a small windfall of cash because yes... some will re-purchase to play on the NA server. In the long run though they just put the final nail in the coffin themselves.
At this time of all-time low population they did NOT need even more bad PR. They did NOT need a good number of their supporters to turn on them and join the ranks of the critics/haters. With this move that is exactly what they did.
Put a fork in DarkFall... they are done. |

You know, I never bothered to get in the middle of this stuff on the forums here. I bought the game and liked it and thought all the haters here were just a bunch of gits, and tho some still are, now i just feel... scammed. I used to stick up for DF to my friends. I was wrong, they were right, fuck this company and it's game. |

Theres a clarification. If you wait 3 months, you will be transfered (with a fee) but you will not need to buy the client again. |

It still isn t right. Waiting 3 months then a transfer fee, lol it s a scam all around. To justify this is pathetic. |

Nope, it's down right fucking retarded. |

It's not, it's brilliant.
Look, with a waiting period of eight years of snail-slow development and a release which featured only about 30% of the features that they promised in place, AV must have looked around and said..."Wow, these guys will put up with *anything* and still give us money". And with that mindset, you don't have to worry about PR or the such, you've already been able to prove to yourself that your fans will put up with anything, and that's the time to go into "get every dime out of those players" mode.
Sounds harsh, but they have a chance to line their pockets, and they should jump at the chance. Remember the old saying "A fool and his money are soon parted". |

I think though, the people that couldn t wait to play this game have already bought. Some avid freaks will buy again, but it will in the end be a HUGE negative to them and eventually will be their undoing. Bad practice will come back to bite you everytime. |

"Darkfall will be charging North American customers twice"??? Umm.. ok.. really there must be something wrong with your skills about understanding plain written text. It very clearly says that you can play your old character in american server after the transfer progress is done, but if you want to roll new character to play american server at launch you must get new american copy for it. Otherwise its not bad news at all, major expansion update (erm, what ever that's going to be) is on the way and new members only forums sounds cool. Hehe, i still love that nerdrage what's going on today.. People whine for news over and over and when it comes they go freaking nuts..Every time Tasos opens his mouth somethings explodes.. lol priceless. |

It's brilliant if they plan to lose subscriptions, not everyone will tolerate charges for a character transfer, or pay for another "client", unless major changes to it are provided beforehand. It's like the developers are shooting themselves on their collective feet... but with a grenade launcher. |

I don't pretend to know how many of the "I quit!!" posts on the official forums are really subscribers or really will quit after the anger fades, but so far, there isn't much defending of this move. |
