However, if it's instanced housing, that detracts from the interest, so we'll see. |

I definately want the housing but I want them to work on the other stuff first. For certain most people don't get housing until they have been playing for a bit (Housing can be a money sink) so it will be some time anyway before I'm ready for it. I'd rather they work on the other stuff first.
There has been no mention of how they will implement housing. Instance housing can be nice. I actually prefer it over the build a house anywhere type. In UO there were houses on every hill practically. It sort of got stupid after while. If they do allow us to build them anywhere, I hope they put some restrictions on where and such,
LOTRO does a decent job with placing their instance houses, I just wish there was more stuff to put in it. UO did a pretty good job of having stuff to go in your house, they just went overboard in allowing you to build them anywhere, and I mean anywhere... .

Yeah I'm sure it will be too. Sorry but I always thought housing was rather lame and pointless. If I could do stuff like craft and cook in my house then that might be a different story. Also it would be cool (not for Aion but just in general) if there were housing quests which could lead to NPC showing up in your house giving you quests and stuff like that. It would give it more of a point.. but I guess not everything needs to have an agenda.. it's just a thought. Playing: Aion |

The housing they talked about was not instanced, mainly because they talked about housing destruction and aerial bombardments. Anyways, will take a while, 1.3 is the last patch pre-expansion and it doesnt include it. |

Wonder where they plan to put them if it's not instanced. Maybe adding wings to the cities?

IIRC they talked about the abyss and basement creating, cant really recall where the article comes from, I think it was a pre Korean release interview with the game designer and he was asked about expansions and possible content. |

I think in a game like this, in order not to detract from the flow of things and the games beauty would be to have instanced housing. I think LOTRO did a great job with this... I think if there were instanced neighborhoods, this would be even better, and hopefully... there will be a large scale of customization as well. Just.... just hope they don't implement the 'Hook' system... It really doesn't allow for much personal customization at all. :( |

I can't wait to do my first virtual B&E. |

I personally don't care too much for housing in an MMO, unless they can find someway to integrate it with the gameplay somehow. I'd rather spend time progressing my character, than proressing his house lol. |

It's nice to hear its potentially still in the works. Nothing better cements the immersion of your personal space and feeling of actually having been teleported into a virtual world where you 'exist' than non-instanced housing, for me that is. |

This is as good a place as any to ask. What is the appeal of housing in MMOs? I don't see the point. I didn't really care for the fact in FFXI the mog house items give bonuses forcing me to have to play house.... blah |
|
The appeal of housing n a virtual world, with virtual people and virtual identities is pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain TBH. |

The alternative to instanced housing would be to add additional real estate. For example: If, let's say from the starting cities you could either walk through a doorway, or enter a portal to take you to an island area that was all player housing it would work. It would end up being a great place for crafting sales/sharing if people could put a sign on their house for their crafting specialty (like an anvil over a blacksmith), and people could walk around and "knock" on the door of a craftsman (unless there was a way to flag it when someone is "home") in order to take advantage of their services.

I want housing too, but honestly unless it's in a Sandbox game usually with open environments where players can place houses and claim land for themselves it is usually just a dressing room. The only time it interested me in another type of game was EQ2 because at least you felt like you owned a room in the world. |

housing would be cool, i did like how it was setup in vanguard: saga of heroes. i think at the least if its implemented in Aino, at least instanced neighborhoods would be a solid way to go. |

Housing kinda has to be instanced. Try fitting millions of player houses into the game world lol. ------------------------------

I agree, I don't think it's obvious as I can't see any reason outside of the RPers as to why you'd want a house. Unless it allows for bonus storage or something. |
