Just curious about this since, to me, it's pretty apparent that this is as much an mmo as team-oriented multiplay L4D is, or the CoD series is.

Is the game not "massive"?

Is it not "multiplayer"?

Is it not "online"?

Do you not play a character? (RPG)

So what if the game doesn't fit your personal narrow definition of what an mmo 'should' be?  If you don't like it, don't read the articles and don't play it.

Once again.  I didnt say that every other team-oriented FPS's such as the ones I mentioned above couldn't be defined as massive, if you mean the term to be oriented with hundreds of players in a lobby simultaneously, which is the non-combative zone of this game.

Nor did I say it wasn't multiplayer, as are all the other team-oriented FPS's such as the ones I mentioned above.

Nor did I say it wasn't online, as are all the other team-oriented FPS's such as the ones I mentioned above.

Nor did I say you dont play a character (RPG), as we do with all the other team-oriented FPS's such as the ones I mentioned above.

So since my interpretation of an mmo seems to be the same as yours, I'm curious to know if CrimeCraft the first team-oriented FPS to have a place in mmorpg.com.

This game is on MMORPG.com for the same reason Guild Wars is on here. You create a Character, progress that character have the ability to meet other players not in your party in public hubs and its all very persistent. It also has all the other features typical MMO's seem to have like mail boxes and stuff.

I don't feel these types of games are true MMO's, but they are at least 50% MMO in my opinion.

I know Call of Duty has a persistant ranking system and 1000's of people can be playing at the same time however on 100's of different servers and that is why it is not on this site.

Nothing bothers me more than games like Exteel and Wolf Team claiming to be MMOFPS's when there nothing but Counter-Strike with Item malls.

ahhh...okay...makes sense. If a fps is as multiplayer as the next and serves its population on one mass server, then it gets a pass as a mmo for the mmorpg site.  Thanks.

Actually Planetside was a true MMO where you could actually fight massive battles without having to go into an instance and other people could leave and enter the continent as the battles progressed.
