War is the biggest let down. Don't get me wrong, I play it and like it. But the game initially sold 1.2 million copies and at the end of last year only had about 300,000 subscribers. I don't know the current numbers, but that was a let down no matter how many people play the game now. Mr. Bagguns |

AoC or War.. Both robbed me of my 50$ Was sad about war cause it was made by mythic and they owned the mmo market with daoc. Dont see why so many people think DF was a letdown.. The only thing that attracted people in the first place was the ffa pvp full loott, massive world, and sandbox genre, it still has it.

Never, ever have I heard VG being called a WoW killer, maybe in your own mind.

I don't like all the big MMO, Blizzard and NCsoft pushing little developers out of the way is very bad for innovation. We are still playing WoW clones because the small innovative companies get ignored. |

Vanugard is still in beta, just because we can't spell our game correctly doesn't mean it won't be fixed on release. Everything will be fine, our game is awesome, spread the word. |

This is exactly the same as mine, but I had the highest hopes for Warhammer of the 3 so my difference if they were in order of letdown would be Warhammer - Dark & Light - Darkfall Fight my Brute Clicky!! |

For me it was Horizons followed by DDO. |

For me, yes, it was Vanguard. From what they promised (the hype), to what they delivered (the fail). The whole thing was just a gigantic let down.
DDO was the second largest letdown for me. ________________________________ Everything born must die. All that is, will come to ruin. This is the essence of Doom. So sayeth the Doomsayer. |

Everquest 2 really. A chance to build on the first and improve the 'crap' parts of the original(ie melee classes) - instead the result was throw the whole game out the window, starting new with vague similiarities. I know how AC fans must feel, though AC2 could actually have been good. |

NC cancelling Tabula Rasa when it could of been fixed in my opinion. It had a dedicated group of players that liked that game, and should of put more of an effort in fixing the game. |

Personally, it was Warhammer. What a stinker that turned out to be. It was the perfect example of Big Mouth(tm) PR then the game was a fucking disaster. Still is. It's like gaming in mud, RvR is retarded, every class is so generic and nerfed to shit it doesn't matter what you play. Of course, it's more complex than that but that's basically it. A lot of the disappointment for me though was the let down in the game because it was Warhammer, I love the Warhammer world. The lore is awesome. It's gritty and dark and evil. The game is NONE of those things. Watered down like everything else.
Industry-wise, I'd say Vanguard was the biggest shocker and the poster child for NOT building your game listening to forum trolls and the so called "hardcore" forum members. It also showed something I already knew, the Brad McQuaid was not a God of MMOs but just a shmuck that just happened to have ONE good idea once and be in the right place at the right time. |

I'd have to say Vanguard. If only it had been given the time and work that it deserved. The game is fine now, but it's too little too late. First impressions are hard to overcome. |

LOL, SOE didn't cancel it. SOE didn't own it. SOE was the distributor and had boxes on the store shelf. It isn't SoE's fault that PE/P2 were shady and got caught trying to use one capital group to pay off another capital group and defaulting on loans. PE/P2 disappeared overnight when their scam got exposed. If you lived thru the adventure, you know the truth. Oh, back on topic, definately Age of Conan. They really had the community going and delivered about 1/8 of what was promised at launch. A close second would be DFO, then Vanguard.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |
