I used to host a server of Rage of Mages for my friends. We had so much fun playing online. If Allods can deliver half the experience Rage of Mages gave us, with the proper modern evolutions of MMOs than its going to be a winner.

i never heard of Rage of Mages before reading about Allods, does it have some fresh gameplay features? I hope Allods won't turn out to be a WoW clone or something... But the devs also created Might & Magic V und Etherlords, so they could do better i guess. "And if they break any of the WoW rules, in my book that's pretty dumb." |

At least it's free to try. Don't mind if it sucks, at least you don't spend much money. Don't they make Dragonica too? It's interesting. |

The graphic tech seems to rival WOW,not sure i could over look that but i am willing to tryout the game play. The thing about weak graphic tech means you are dealing with a developer who cannot afford the time or cash to implement some unique ideas.IDK maybe i will spend a little time checking it out,but it does not seem interesting enough right now. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

"Fantasy meets Space Opera in the first AAA free-to-play MMORPG boasting the largest games development budget in the Russian history, by the makers of Heroes of Might and Magic V" Is that true?

What I liked in Rage of Mages games, was the RPG and strategy elements. The game was very hard and unforgiving, but very rewarding and everything you did was meaningfull. Many different maps, like a strategy game, but in wich you were just one character on it. Those maps had factions of npcs, humans, orcs, like a warcraft game, but you, yourself and yourfriends were independent. You could destroy buildings, attack the npc cities, protect them against attackers, do quests, level your characters (progression on skills was based on use like Ultima Online, rather than levels) If you didnt protected the town, some Ogres would come attack, defeat the knights, peasant, kill the sheeps, destroy the buildings. You didnt had to help them, but if you did, you could enjoy their services/quests/protection. It was a roguelike game, random loot, item based gameplay. Each map had a different conflict/situations going on and you could do whatever you wanted and see what happened, there were lots of rewarding secrets for those who wished to explore. PVP could be enabled free for all on map creation. Teamplay was necessary to beat most of the content, like killing big Dragons, or hordes of orcs and undeads. Allods seems to have the same emphasys on teamplay with those ghost ships feature. Rage of Mages was like GTA 1-2 and Allods will be what GTA 3 was. The single player wasnt nowhere as fun as the multiplayer, there was no limit to the number of players in the servers.. the problem was to find people with the game willing to join. It might be a stretch but, seen it, the first thing I thought was: Wow, this character portrait was copied from Ultima Online, and this characters/constructions/map design were copied from Warcraft 1! Many things were copied from Ultima as well. Its an old school game, so expect to find the old school concepts of how a game should be. Deep, complex, rewarding, difficult. Its a hardcore game, and me and 5 friends had fun playing it for 2 months in the beggining of 2009. Rage of Mages is not very well known like many other russian games... Gems like Space Rangers and Sea Dogs.
The thing is if Allods manages to pull the same feeling Rage of Mages had, it will be very fun. |

That was a nice trailer; reminds me of Skies of Arkadia and such. But what is the gameplay like? Groups? Raids? All the new MMOs come at you with a fancy CG trailer about how awesome YOU are going to be, but in reality the constant player, who keeps paying is a lot more concerned about GROUP play.

Link to something that even resembles real information about the game and you might get some people hyped. So far the only things I've ever seen about it in English is the trailer (which doesn't even say if its using the in game engine and animations) and that the English version is going to be hosted by gPotato (which means the server hardware will suck and the cash shop will be way over priced). |

I am registered... well... I think I am registered ( I don't speak in russia). I have always a hard time to join games in totally alien langs (like chinois or russian). I guest a english version is about to open... Is that true? . I have really good feelings for this game, and I don't like wow clones much... |
