Im so sick and tired of the fantasy genre of mmorpgs... they all seem to look the same, just a different package and box it comes in. WTF!? just gimme one good game that's actually worth spending 2 minutes of my valuable time! |

I agree, both about the excess of fantasy and the terrible repacking of MMOs. There has been little innovation or evolution in the last 4 years. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

True, that is an option! =) |

this is a particularly stupid thread considering the oodles of non-fantasy MMOs on the horizon.

Well, what I am trying to say is that from my point of view there seem to be a lean in the industry towards flooding the market with sub standard fantasy games, in hope that enough ppl will swallow the bait so they can profit. So,.. where did the innovation go? |

Creative history\fantasy as been central to roleplaying games since the 60's. That's kinda like saying; "Why are all these sports games about teams and points and stuff?" "It is in your nature to do one thing correctly; Before me, you rightfully tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe." ~Francis Dolarhyde |

I'm really tired of people who are tired of things. In fact I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. So I'm just going to.....umm....sigh.............damn. It's better to lurk in forums and be thought a fool...than to endlessly "Quote" and remove all doubts. |

Fantasy is fine in my opinion when you use interesting races like in Shadowbane or Everquest etc. It's when all these games use the same human, elf and orc combo that things get somewhat annoying. |

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers. |

So instead we may start seeing the same repacking of fantasy MMOs in the form of Sci-fi! Lets just add a lazer gun instead of a bow, and a shock stick rather than a sword. Put some hotpants on the female chars and some rugged lookin leather on the guys. Space ships rather than boats, robots instead of pets. Viola! A sci-fi MMO! Wouldn't that be a huge improvement. |

Thats what rpgs are like if you dont like it there is always the allmighty HKO!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long. |

I didn't know posting useless opinions in a forum was such a great way to utilize one's time. Thanks for the enlightenment, I'll try to work less on solving world hunger so I can come here and post more BS instead.
Edit - What exactly did you want us to tell you anyway? |

Originally posted by beaverz You sir are a genius. Now to my opinion.I don't see anything but fantasy.I look at a games list isee fantasy on almost all of them. I say innovation don't go and copy WoW or other popular titles even though they think it will make money nothing new on the market nothing to get everything will be the same.I'd like to see more modern day stuff with a twist! Like pong i keep bouncing back and forth between games. |

Then don't play them. Problem solved. Stick to shooters or whatever you fancy. Maybe the he sims is something for you? This is a very useless thread imho. I mean what to really discuss here? Thread closed.

I totally agree If your going to just copy some other game at least add some new cool things in it don't just redo it just to make some money. It is not the fansty setting that is the problem it is the fact that all the games are the same really with just a hint of something different. I think companies need to start thinking totally different. Example (No elves, No Dwarfs, No Humans, don't use the normal races). Another dont use the same class stucture Figther, Caster, Healer, Rogue .... something totally different would be nice. More interesting PvP focus on small and large scale Here is an idea a skill based system instead of a level based system ... simple but at least it is different So many small things that can be done but change the game alot. Whatever company does that will have the next WoW ... imo |
