Managed to swipe a beta key yesterday, and ran the installer overnight. Things went smoothly, besides the initial 'cannot download' bit but thanks to a guide in these forums, that was easily remedied.

I tried running it this morning, and when I did the Patcher said that my version of DirectX wasn't compliant.

"Aion requires DirectX 9 june 2008 or higher".

Naturally, I went "oh, okay " and re-installed DirectX 10, but it was the same version as the one I had. The results were predictable.

Has anyone else ran into this problem?

A few have over at aionsource, I think they had to downgrade but i'm not sure.

It asks for DirectX 9 so you install DirectX10? Right...

Install the latest version of DirectX 9 from the Microsoft website and you will be good to go.

Edit: I should point out that DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 coexist on the same computer quite happily as DirectX 10 is not backwards compatible.

I have little interest in anything backed by NCSOFT,but i can help out your simple situation.

It means Direct X 9/9a/9b/9c ,DX10 is VISTA only and is not compliant to anything else.

If the game cannot even run on VISTA[most all will]it would just need a patch by NCSOFT as the ONLY games that will never run on Vista are the older 16 bit games.

I have another problem, when i try starting the game i get error from gameguard: 114, anyone else getting this???

i am getting the EXACT same error with the gameguard :(  dunno what it is, maybe cause im running windows 7?

Windows 7 runs Korean Aion now, but back when 1.1 (patch NCwest is supposedly using) it didn't work in windows 7, partition.

Well im running it on vista so I don't think it's that, messing around with firewall atm if I fix it I will post it here...

For the gameguard issues, most can be resolved easily. Check this link, worked for some friends

i also posted a fix for the gameguard error that we both had in another thread... worked for my windows 7 64 bit, but some other dude got a BSOD for some reason.

hehe...that's funny cause the link on their systems requirements posting in the support forums takes you to a dx10 download...
