Not our current, but I have good info he is connected with the previous "deregulation is king, free markets ftw, Yay! Wall street!" one, lol!

CCP purposely turns a blind eye to in-game theft and scams. If someone can infiltrate your corporation, gain your trust, and take a bunch of your stuff, it's theirs. Similarly, if you're the victim of a scam, then it's better luck next time. Hacking into someone's account isn't allowed, of course, but if you can do something within the game to relieve someone of their assets, that person is SOL.
So it may be possible for CCP to take some sort of action against the scammer if he converted the ISK into real-life money, but in all likelihood this would amount to nothing more than account and/or IP banning.
As for the theft itself, there's nothing to be done about it. That's how EVE has always worked.

BUWAHAHAHAHAAAA !! Virtual Theift? Are you serious? How can a player steal 1's and 0's that never left the game server and are basically part of the code owned by CCP? The worst that could happen to that player would be that his account would be banned by CCP for dealing in RMT services. The act of scamming idiots dumb enough to fork over their in game virtual ISK to another player running a "bank" is not even on the radar of anyone who gives a damn about nerd rage in the real world let alone CCP.

Games I've played:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online.

There has never been a clear-cut case of investor fraud in the United States wherein the authorities didn't investigate, then seek to arrest and prosecute the fraudster(s). Maybe it's different in other countries, or maybe you're too obtuse to realize that there's a difference between losing investments and stealing them.

Being investigates does not mean being caught...
Let me fix it for you:

In real life, if the CEO of a major investment firm steals the investors' money and flees to Seychelles Islands/input similar country here/, he'll be on the run from the CIA, the FBI, local police, etc. but no one can do damn thing about it.

Scamming in EVE is pretty much the same as in RL, you leave your past behind and hide under new indentity.

Actually in real life someone who lost everything to a scamming CEO could potentially hunt down that said CEO down and kill him/her. Not saying it's right or anything but someone who bankrupts a lot of people better watch his/her back for the rest of their life. No amount of money will buy them the ability to feel safe and secured when they lay their head down at night.

I think it's hilarious that some people get their panties in a twist over this. I mean, it's in game, right? Caveat Emptor? Many of the whiners will log back into Eve and resume killing, scamming and stealing directly from other players (costing them way more than a sliver of their account balance). How is this different? Maybe some of the whiners now understand how carebears feel. LOL

Hypocrisy.

The guy gets banned for selling isk for real money but CCP does it everyday via selling time cards which then are encouraged to be traded for isk.

Not to forget prisontime... I mean somewhere one have to draw a line beetween games and r e a l l i f e. But shure, there is no way to actually kill a person in real life inside a game. Still Misfits point holds true.

WOW. Just as an aside I checked one of the sites that sells ISK. 40,000 million for 2800. So if he managed to sell the ISK before they banned him and got it tranferred he made some giant real life money.

Just wow....

Some people are easily confused by intermediary steps. That or an EVE fanboi who can't deal with legit criticism.

the people buying GTCs are not getting money, they are getting a GTC, a product. Anyone who sells straight up for money would be banned. They are not the same 2 things, although a troll like yourself doesnt care about logical reasoning. All you care about is bumping a thread 2-3 weeks after the last post and calling the company hypocrites because you think you can trade money for isk without being banned. While it's true to an extent of converting $$ to GTCs then to isk. You can say all the bad things you want about it, but this gives players a way to play the game for free, and it gives other players who dont want to grind a way to play without grinding for isk.

TL:DR- trading isk for $$ is illegal unless you go through GTCs. If you dont (which the person in question didnt) you get banned. Quit trollin.

Characters sell for a lot as well. Eve has some real nutters playing. I really enjoy lifelike games and all, but players who confuse it with real life are just a sad commentary on humanity these days.
