Which mouse? I have a G9 and a G15 next to a Belkin n52 and I haven't run into any kind of problem with gameguard.

Wikipedia is hardly the best way to backup your argument.  And Gameguard stops you from playing, I'm just glad that I won't have to put up with your whining in game.

I've been playing Aion at work and at home, through various firewalls and antivirus programs, without any problems at all.  Saying that is is "destructive to legitimate software" is just stupid.

O, so in the otheer thread when someone told me to wiki about the network intrusion the GG created on my computer, that obviously was ok then to back up hi source ?

Double standards starting already for the adverts in this forum community section. I'm glad LotrO doesn't have adverts posting in it's forum section.

Also think Richard Garriot is a lot more trust worthy then NcSoft, and I think protesting Aion is the only course to show support for R.G.

That is odd. GG doesn't do any harm to my use of keyboard and mouse, and both of them are Logitech Wireless. I also have all firewalls up, antivirus, etc, running Vista no less- and the only thing I have to do is "run as administrator" when loading Aion. This seems to get past all the GG hassle.

 As I haven't read the other thread, and it certainly wasn't me, there is no double standard.  I'm simply stating the fact that the wiki site is not a reliable source and should never be accepted as fact.

On a side note, use wiki if you must, but always take it with a grain of salt until you can backup the proof from other sources. They don't monitor it for truth nearly as well as they should. That is just common sense.

It was me, and the wikipedia referenced I/O mapping, not network intrusion. Nice twist on words though, as I clearly stated you know nothing about computers anyway. Wikipedia is a decent tool for information, you just have to make sure the information your seeing is valid by other sources. With the site I gave you it was solareus, so stop please. And what does advertisements have to do with this. Do you strive to hate companys and there way of generating money. With your threads you create, this and now prasing RG saying he's more trustworthy, I think you may want to check your water source, seriously. If you missed it, please stop.

As to this thread, NProtect back in the day was a mess. It works a lot better than it did though, and now allows companys to modifiy it to a certain extent to work with thier games. If a game doesn't want you creeating custom macro's, then yes it can cause certain keyboards and mouse software to render useless until you remove it. Is it really a bad thing, no. There are several ways to get around software not working correctly. Gamegaurd is decent for what it does, and it never claimed to stop botting. There are several games which don't use GG and have huge botting issues, one being a 11 million + game. It really just boils down to how the company will handle the issue.

I like how this became a discussion about wikipedian instead of GG.

GG has gotten better, but it is still a royal pain in the rear.  I honestly wouldn't mind GG if it turned on when you were in game, and then turned off when you exited the game.  Unfortunately, to get rid of GG after it loads up you have to either remove it manually or reboot.  I personally avoid GG as much as possible.

GG blocks my 2 thumb buttons as well as the thumb pressure button and the 2 mouse wheel left and right buttons ... on my Logitech mx1100

Thats weird, my G9 uses setpoint (just like yours) and also has 2 thumb buttons, one of which I used for alt+7 (wings toggle in my case) and the other one for the 0 without any problem, do you have the last setpoint?

My logitech MX620 has zero issues.

Edit 1: They all use the same controller software called setpoint (Logitech keyboards and mice). It's weird that some people are reporting problems when others have none.

Edit 2: Haha, not so weird, just checked the name of the person with the "problem". Somebody is giving viral marketeers a bad name ;)

I use a G5 mouse ( has the side buttons ) and i'm having no problems.

Not sure why others are being blocked.

Of course GG is going to be there at release. How else is  S. Korea going to infect all our computers and use them to hack into the pentagon?  Dont you know that GG is the weapon of choice for the Asian movement for world domination? EVERYONE who does not want to paticipate in an asian  bot network DOES care!

for short:

1. gamguard is an utter piece of rootkit crap that adds nothing to security
2. it installs a device driver on your system you have a lot of fun to get rid off *evil smile*. you might have to revove and find ! some .dlls yourself manually
3. it doesnt allways stop operation if a game ends and injects nonsense overhead in running processes
4. it is hacked within minutes after any "update" by the botters who laugh themselfes to death about this shit
5. it did not prevent any asian grinder from becoming a tremendously large bot-farm despite that crap beeing used
