I quit WoW recently and I'm looking for a game with great PvP. It can be P2P or F2P. It can be horrible graphics or it can be so intense it requires a 4-D graphics card. I am sort-of sick of raiding and grind-ish endgame content in all games. I don't want much of a grind or a long time to the level cap, long = 3+ months. But I don't exactly want it to be one afternoon either. It can be any genre of MMO, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, anything. Again, the main focus here is awesome PvP, I kind of enjoyed the BG system in WoW, I don't really care for looting or long death penalties, I'd rather have unltd. deaths/massive quick kills, waiting for your enemy is one of the worst things in PvP imo. Please don't recommend.... EVE L2 WoW All suggestions appreciated! :)

Sounds more like FPS action with it's short respawns. I honestly haven't enjoyed pvp since I stopped playing DAOC. I'd be interested to see if someone has any good answers.
I will say that I have been playing Requiem: Bloodymare and it seems to have "okay" pvp. Sadly I set my toon up for grinding levels and he does not compete well in the pvp arenas. |

Do you think DAoC would be any good then? I've never tried it, it seems outdated, but maybe I just haven't looked far enough into it? As for FPS games, I will have to admit I do have fun playing CoD4 (XBox 360 version) with friends sometimes, but I don't know of any good MMOFPS games for PC.

I've recently started playing Warhammer Online and I love it. Keep in mind that im only lvl 14 (cap 40) so I haven't experienced all there is, but so far I am greatly enjoying it. Unlike WoW you can do nothing but rvr (pvp) to the lvl cap. The world pvp is my favorite part of Warhammer. Every night I can easily get into a warband and take battle objectives and keeps. The instanced pvp is very good also, it is always kept even and fair, unlike WoW. For example, in WoW, in Alterac Valley, I have been there when its been 40 vs 15. There is nothing like that in War. If one side gets a 1 ro 2 player advantage, then the scenario closes. I would definitely recomend Warhammer if your looking for pvp. Mr. Bagguns |

Casual is the word that suits LOTRO best - it is the most casual friendly and least demanding MMO that i know. When i read you post i thought that should be the game for you. Have fun.

Thanks for the advice! :) I'm downloading LOTRO/WAR as I type this :)
I'll let you know how it works out, and I'm still open to even more suggestions :D

Nah, DAOC is not an option anymore. It is a skeleton of a game now. Unlike most claims about games having no population, in this case it is true. Yeah, there are a few hardcore fans still around, but honestly DAOC might as well be private servers the population is so low. The game is still great, but the reality for a pvp based endgame, DAOC is dead.
As for LOTRO, I think that will be the wrong direction for you. It is 90% pve and the endgame, although not raiding, is very similar to raiding due to the way Turbine gates endgame content by making it inaccessable without the proper gear. I think you will find the difficulty of getting that endgame gear extremely frustrating because it will feel like you have to raid repeatedly every day (in 6 man groups) to get your gear.
WAR on the other hand might be a good fit. I no longer play because it became a grind to me. Dana Massey explains it better and he has an article here that talks about WAR. I'd recommend reading it if you are considering playing WAR beyond trial. |

So after finally getting done with the horrible WAR download, I finally get to play, and I absolutely LOVE it! I've also been looking in to SW:TOR. On WAR, is it worth buying it, like does the PvP get any better past the demo max of level 10? Why would you recommend a PvE game to someone looking for a PvP game..? LOTRO has no PvP worth mentioning. |

He asks for a game with no pve endgame grinding to be able to pvp. If i remember it right you only have to pve 1 toon up to level 10 in LOTRO then you can jump into a level 50 Monster and start working on pure pvp - once bored with that you can yawn through the pve with your level 10 again. Wether that one Monster zone is fun for him or not he will quickly see. Some LOTRO fans claim they did nothing but monsterplay for months /shrug. Its worth a try for him i guess there arent many pvp MMO's that do not demand timesink grinds or heavy raiding. |

Sanders is correct although I'd say that on your first character 1-20 is okay. Read the article about RP farming in WAR I linked above. I will admit to having levelled like 5 toons to just shy of 20 after I got my first one to 35 and giving up on getting to endgame. |
