Wondering if anyone can post some direct X 10 screenshots ? Or some direct x 11 ?  Being a new title coming out, it would seem only natural for it to have dx 10 abitlities.  I personally won't even look at games that don't support dx 10...

I own Vista and dx10 capatible hardware, if a developer is unable, or just simply to lazy to implement dx10 in a 50dollar game title, then it is not worth 50dollars. When I by a game for 50 fdollars, i expect it to utulize all of the present technologies available in the industry to make a enriched game experience.

What you all just told me is that Aion does not do this, and not only will there not be dx10 or 11 but the entire game world  will be dated graphically before release ?

Sad that people expect so little for 50 dollars, that to me is part of the problem in the industry, to many people are so hungry for something new they don't care about the over all quality of the product or what features if any are of this current portion of technology time line.

If you knew anything about DX10, its current limitations, and the current general database you wouldve never posted this nonsense.

This is a MMO not Crysis you fool! You cannot honestly expect a MMO to have bleeding-edge graphics, physics etc as it would lag a ridiculous amount even for the few players who had beast computers that can run it.

Furthermore, Aion is being run on the Crytek 1 engine which does not support dx10 but it still looks amazing for a MMO. If you don't like it go play Crysis or something.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about;  why would a game based on the Crytek 1 engine - an engine designed only to use DX9 - be able to run on DX11. There arn't even graphics cards that fully support DX11 and the only way to even get a preview of it is through the Beta / Release candidate. You're whining that the game doesn't use software that isn't even avaliable yet.

There are two MMOs that have DX10 support, one of which is acting more and more like a fish out of water and the other has great landscapes and mediocre character models and animations.  We all know which one the OP belongs to . . .

hmm, honestly ill stick to the way ive always looked at what makes a game worth playing or not worth playing.. gameplay! whether its console or pc. so long as the game is downright fun to play and good enough to hold my interest each month. ill play it, who cares if it has cutting edge next gen graphics where u can see sweat pores on ur character.. jeez,

yeah, but we should try to be a little less harsh about it.  a fully mature playerbase would simply disprove the troll, then let it drop off the front page never to be heard from again, while keeping personal attacks few and far between.  we all know the OP posted this solely to troll, taking something they already know, posing it as a question and then dismissing the game due to already knowing the answer, so best to let it die.

C'mon sol, there is a reason this game doesn't have DX10 and pretty much why no games want to develop in DX10. If you can't take a few minutes to do the research, then your threads should just go un-noticed. This has nothing to do with the amount of cash you paid for a DX10 card and peoples standards. DX10 is plainly put, bad. It's the reason why DX10.1 was released and soon after talks of DX11 in the works. Check out the thread under the AoC forums here that AmazingAvery posted about DX11, and you will understand. And to even state that a game should have DX11 is pointless since no cards support it just yet much less games. Seriously man, go get some friends and play with them outside. These threads are just beginning to be pointless. It's just a game, quit with the crusade.

I don't think we'll be talking about DX9, if DX10 was natively supported in XP. Unfortunately, due to Vista's low penetration the standard never took off. I assume that DX11 will be bundled with WIn7, so hopefully the new operating system will fare better than Vista, so we will finally see new generation graphics in everything besides FPS.

As far as MMOs go, I know of three games that have implemented DX10. LOTRO and EVE are successful in that implementation. Having seen both DX incarnations of these games, DX10 is definitely more visually pleasing. I haven't seen how AoC is doing with the DX10 client, somebody else needs to shed some light.

As far as Aion is concerned, the DX9 client I've played is extremely solid and fast and pleasing to the eye at the same time. I have no doubt that it would have been a lot more pleasing to the eye in its DX10 incarnation, but it doesn't necessarily counts as a weakness. LOTRO DX9 client in comparison looks very uninspiring. The only game that could rival Aion in its DX9 incarnation (in my opinion) is AoC, and last I played the client was nowhere near the same level of optimisation.

It's obvious the OP has never worked with dx10, knows anything about technology cycles in relation to 3d CG, much less game programming in general, and thinks that just because they FINALLY upgraded their vid card, that the whole industry should cater to them so they can justify the $300 they just spent upgrading. There are no hand-painted cg games with dx10 out now, period. Probably not for another year at least. Sorry chump, nothing revolves around you.
