You mean, like, soloing quietly in a game to advance? Oh, how important ,really.
Seriously, take the drama down a notch. The mere existence of Solo or Group Content doesnt do jack for a game, its all in the implementation. Just because some OCD morons get their panties in a bunch when there is a bit of content they cant beat solo doesnt mean you have to excise anything even remotely social from a game. ToR seems to be intended to be a hybrid Singleplayer/MMORPG, with a hefty monthly fee for it. If they succeed, they basically managed to make people pay more than regular price for a single-player RPG with options most supposedly dont even want. Big deal, yeah. You know, I wouldnt be surprised if MMORPGs went full-circle and became singleplayer games with chat and added cost. At that point, you just turned regular games more profitable for including a chat room, and someone is going to come and create a social/group/guild/multiplayer game again, and the whole cycle starts all over, just that you have a ton of Online-Singleplayer-Games to feed those that never really wanted MMORPGs, but rather wanted Solo-Reward-Slotmachines with Chatrooms and a catwalk. Who cares? |

My verdict will come when I can actually play the game. However, I have really, really enjoyed Bioware's other games (Mass effect, Baldur's Gate, etc). Thus I will buy this game based on that reputation. |

This is the very reason I'm a fan of solo play MMOs. I can't stand around and wait for others to show up just so I can play a game I'm paying for monthly. This is what kept me in WoW for a while, I was able to solo level basically on my own. I tried grouping, but groups took just as much time, because we had to recruit others wait for them to show up or whatever else went wrong. On top of that, if they turn out to be idiots, that is just more waisted time because of their incompetance. CoV was a fun game, but it took me soo long to level because the game really needed groups to level effeciently. If SWToR uses anything from WoW, I hope it is their solo-playability, especially for me and my wierd play hours. |

Everyone has different quests that might intersect with other classes stories. It all depends on how they implement the system. if they allow my grouped friends to participate in my classes story then there won't be an issue. However if they cannot then there will be issues. The only group play might be in PvP or flashpoints. The flashpoints or other group content might not happen for many hours or levels. Some people like to level exclusively with friends, their wife, their husband, etc. If they have to play solo until certain small events(flashpoints) then go back to solo play it will really ruin the experience. Leveling exclusively with friends is the funnest experience I have had in MMO's so I really hope they don't make it solo your own storyline until small group content or endgame. |

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant. |

For every MMO I've played....90% of the time I was practically alone. It's not something unheard of in MMOs, and I'd argue that even the most group oriented of gamers still manage to play 50% alone as well. For me the idea that storyline is going to raise suspension of disbelief that I'm actually grinding is what counts. And I rather have that then going out to kill 50 boars just to come back and accept another quest to kill 100 more....=/ |

I really like the SW ip and want to see this game succeed BUT , when i read stuff like this from a recent interview with there devs at E3 it makes me cringe...
As the devs told us, the majority of the game can be done without a single bit of help from another player. They said that the main appeal of MMOs is the experience single player with the option of being with other players. They confirmed that names, chat, and so on could all be turned off or ignored if you really, really wanted absolutely nothing to do with other people. Names:
If they want to make KOTOR 3 thats great but dont rap it up with optional coop play and slap a monthly sub on it.. When every lvl 30 (insert class) is running around in the same exact gear and none needs any help to aquire anything... blehhh There will be no sense of community , no need for community ... |

SW:TOR was the talk of E3 last week, AND ALL THEY DID WAS SHOW A 3 MINUTE CINEMATIC!!! If a cinematic can garner that much excitment, this game has the potential to be a WoW killer!!! |

i am sick and tired of all the pissing and moaning people do about this game. next to zero is known about this game at this time other than a few classes and some planets. i love how the mongrel hoard of people gripe about it being this and that and really have no real game play knowledge of the game. also, stop with the WoW killer crap as well. nothing makes me more physically ill than reading some post where someone says, "OMG this is going to pwnz Wow!!!! WoW Killerzz!!!" this game could totally flop and it may not. Until you actually play the game for yourself, theres no reason to even try to speculate anything at this time. |

SWG-Vets and Hardcore mmorpgers are gonna be pissed but Look at KOTOR, KOTOR2, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Oblivion, and how sucessful those games were and still are. At this point I would suspect Age of Conan with a way better story, more polished, and its Star Wars. Its a guaranteed sucess, the only question is if its going to sustain 500k+ subscribers after 6 months. |

You're not comprehending the problem at all. People bitch about FORCED grouping. People bitch when they are FORCED to play solo. I like to level with my friends because it is fun. We always get outselves into trouble and it enhances the gameplay when you can experience it with other players. It also has the added benefits of stories later on down the line of "Oh dude you remember when you accidently aggroed that Sith Lord when we were fighting that Sith assasin?", Grouping should ALWAYS be an option from the first second you enter the game the whole way to the endgame. Any MMO that does not accomplish that fails as an MMO IMO. That is what people are fearing. The fact that with unique solo quests it removes group play and forces solo play until the group content part of the story occurs. If I cannot log in on day 1 on a jedi and group with a smuggler and trooper right away I will be sorely disappointed. |

Honestly i love solo play and questing when its not extremly basic dialog, tell me a story and i will bust my arss to get through to the end to find out what happens. Heres the kicker i love pvp/group also, but when its forced on me something in me snaps and i have a tendencey to hate the game for it no matter how good the game is. I think swtor will work out a very fine mix of solo/group. I think we all have a lot of faith in bioware and i think they can live up to it. |

I have NEVER EVER seen an MMO that has "forced" soloing. |

Man, the solo haters are really coming out of the woodwork over this game. There are plenty of grouping games out there, move on, kthxbye. |
