‘I don’t see why this is happening,’ she says; Tami Farrell will take crown

LOS ANGELES - Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, who stirred up trouble for herself when she said gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, got two dreaded words from pageant poobah Donald Trump on Wednesday: "You're fired."

Trump and other pageant leaders said Prejean was being sacked not because of the remarks but because she hadn't been holding up her end of the agreement she signed when she entered the pageant.

"This was a decision based solely on contract violations, including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," the California pageant's executive director, Keith Lewis, said in a statement.

But on Wednesday, Prejean told Access Hollywood she believed she was dethroned because of her stand on gay marriage.

“It’s just because of my answer, I think,” Prejean said. “None of this would be happening right now if I just said, ‘Yeah, gays should get married.’ ”

Lewis had complained at a news conference last month that Prejean was skipping Miss California USA events while speaking out against gay marriage at unsanctioned appearances.

After the complaints reached Trump, who owns Miss California USA's parent organization, the mogul decided to give her a second chance and keep her on. This week, he changed his mind.

"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said in a statement. "Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen."

Prejean told Access Hollywood that she's been making appearances as Miss California and doing her part to communicate with the Miss California USA organization.

“I’ve tried to reach out to them and I’ve done several appearances and I’m gonna be presenting at the Special Olympics this weekend as an honorary guest,” she said. “I mean, I’ve been cooperating with them. I don’t see why this is happening.”

Pageant officials said Prejean would be replaced by the Miss California pageant's first runner-up, Tami Farrell, 24, who was crowned Miss Teen USA in 2003. They had announced last month that Farrell was being named a special ambassador to fill in for Prejean at any events she didn't attend.

"Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests," Trump said.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Prejean said she's convinced that Trump has her best interests at heart.

“I think that he definitely is a businessman and I know that he’s looking out for my best interest and right now, I think that that maybe he [thinks this decision is in the] best interest for me,” she said.

During the Miss USA competition, Prejean was first runner-up after answering a judge's question about gay marriage by saying wedding vows should be reserved for men and women.

"No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised," she said.

After the response drew heavy criticism she began speaking to crowds opposed to gay marriage, violating a section of her contract that required she clear unsanctioned appearances with pageant officials. About the same time, seminude photos of her began to surface on the Internet.

Although the photos were mild, pageant officials said she also violated her contract by not disclosing their existence to them.

When Trump initially decided to keep Prejean on, Lewis' co-executive director, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler resigned in protest.

"My faith has been restored in the Miss Universe Organization and with Donald Trump," Moakler said in a statement after Wednesday's announcement. She didn't say whether she planned to return to the organization.

Frankly, I could not possibly care less.  Could not possibly care less.  I thought she was a total and complete flake - always.

Let me say this:  I told you she believed in a two-rule system:  one for Prejean and one for everyone else (this includes contracts, promises, rights of association, performance of contractual duties, and so forth).

She'll be alright.

I'd actually suggest she still claim she's Miss California if she wants. Not being a plumber didn't stop Joe the Plumber in conservative movements, and like him she already has down not knowing what she's talking about, so why should she stop now?

Fired for expressing her personal beliefs, when asked to no less.  Ain't that America.  Home of the greed, land of the slave.

I just love how she takes personal responsibility for her actions, or, should I say, lack of actions in fulfilling her contract.

Does it even dawn on her in the slightest that, if Trump were going to fire her for her statement on gay marriage, or for her pictures, that he would have originally fired her, and not have given her another chance?

Obviously she has no concept of taking personal responsibility for her actions.

She will make a good talking head for any political party.

It's always someone else's fault......

This is what you get when you're more occupied with your intolerant agenda, trying to forbid what other people can do because of your personal belief, than doing your actual job.

Glad to see she got punished for that.

Was it ever anything more?  With people like that celebrity bloger dude as a judge and Trump involved, it seems to be finally accepting the cliched role it plays in our culture.  Honestly I had forgetten that it even existed, until, and heres the shocker, the controvesy erupted.

At least it was not because she gave her opinion(one most American agree with) on a question put forward by a flaming homo activist who was judging a Womans beauty contest for God knows what reason.

Look, this entire thread is meaningless without a picture of the new Miss California.  That will tell us all we need to know.  If she's as good or better looking than Carrie, I'm willing to let it slide.  If she's not as good looking as Miss Prejean, I'll be out there fighting for the restoration of her throne with everything I've got.

Just saw interview on Greta Van Sustern with her and that official from CA pageant.Nope she is not as pretty, at least I dont think she is.She also stated when asked by Greta about gay marriage that she would agree with the voters ,then Greta said  CA voters voted against it so you would be against it?..She tried to deflect then...LOL ,there may be a 3rd runner up chosen now after she said that right beside the Ca official.
 
Carrie Prejean has stated she went to all obligations so it is between the lawyers now.

Read my post above.I just saw the interview with the newly crowned,she basically said she agreed with the voters(She is a beauty constant so she probably didnt think it through as much as she should have and may have consequences).Prejean stated she attendend all of her obligations.So Attorneys will have to sift through it.

 Dont rejoice too much She will be a millionaire before it is over ,maybe even more successful than if she kept the crown.
