i am about to come back to the game and judging by this websites forum http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?cat=67 it looks like fairy is the most populated server. If thats not a right assumption please let me know thanks!

Fairy is one of the older servers and thus heavily populated, but I believe that the most populated server is Odin, which may have recently had to offer server migrations for players in order to spread the population out a bit.

I wouldn't judge a server population by forum posts. I don't think everyone on every server posts on one website. The biggest server is not always better anyway. I think you'd be better off just picking any server that available. Anyhow, if you happen to choose Kujata, let me know I guess.
