So ever since I installed the trial, I have been unable to see anything. It is as if all of the textures simply do not display. I have tried just about everything to fix this:
Reinstalling the trial. Reinstalling video card drivers. Changing all of the in-game graphics options. Using the /setfog # command. Disabling background tasks. Updating DirectX.
My system specs are:
An SOE TSR has been trying to help me for the past few days, but we have been unable to find the source of this problem so far. Also, I am unable to post in the Official Vanguard tech support forums, since this is a trial account. Here is a screenshot displaying my problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

i had something similar happen. Disabling HDR and Tonemapping helped, but you say you've alreadys played with the settings so im not sure. Try this Look in your bin folder for the vgclient.ini then look for this line bUseProvidedShaders=True set to =False
If that doesnt help then I have no clue what the problem could be but please Post the contents of your vgclient.ini in a reply. |

Have you tried messing around with the fog? |

One other little thing you could try while in the game is type /flush all that will clear the texture cache and could possibly get it to redraw them. Might try looking at this too, it might be a little outdated, but help tweak it some...formatting didnt carry over however: VGCLIENT.INI FILE LOCATION: In trying to make it easier for people to tweak their .ini file, I have placed mine below colored coded to make that task easier. Please keep in mind that these settings will in fact give you more performance along with teh game settings I have included in teh following vgclient.ini file. Please change according to your preferences. Please allow me some time to write out details of teh below changes. I will also provide some tips in teh near future that will help gain more performance out of your computer to help teh game run smoother. If you wish not to copy and paste my .ini file, please note teh legend below will guide you through making teh changes manually yourself. Legend: * Red: Items you NEED to change according to your mod, monitor settings, and system settings
[Version] [FirstRun] [Engine.Player] [Engine.Engine] [General] [UI] [WinDrv.WindowsClient] [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] [Engine.NullRenderDevice] [ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem] [ExceptionHandling] [WindowPositions] \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ MaxPixelShaderVersion=300 teh above should only be set to teh settings I have shown above if your video card supports 3.0 shaders. If your video card does not support 3.0, please change teh lines to teh following: MaxPixelShaderVersion=255 |

it would go under the [General] section. You could also try deleting the vgclient.ini all together and let the game rewrite it.(long shot but make sure it isnt -read only, as well) |

Another option is to UNTICK "Use Provided Shaders" this is under the perfomance section, as you have an ATI card it conflicts as the shaders are based on Nvidia cards. This has happened alot to ATI users, myself included. Try deleting the cache folder found in your Vanguard folder and do a Full Scan (Do both at the same time), If you have already been given this and its not worked I apologise and will look into it. |

Here are my settings:

I deleted it, and it recreated the file and added the line. Changing it to false did not solve it. |

well i would try deleting the cache folder and letting it reinstall them...might take a bit when you first start it back up, but could solve it. Also, you may wish to check your catalyst drivers...they are notoriously bad at times and instead of running the most current you may need to revert to a previous version, for Vista 32bit they recommend the 9.3 drivers..so running the new 9.5 might be part of the issue. If you cant find the 9.3 one on the ati site can check at www.guru3d.com Also, might need to install DirectX 9.0c from March if you havent cause Vanguard doesnt really support DirectX 10..if you need to, do it before doing the video drivers |

Another thing you may try is turning off hardware occulsion in the options. Also someone else is having the same exact issue in the forums as use, even teh screenshot looks almost identical. It was suggested in addition to all weve mentioned to "Try typing into the chat window /setfog 700000, 819200 and see what happens with your image." Also, the player said VG worked fine with the Catalyst driver 8.56, so might try looking for a copy of it instead. |
|
|
Alright, I have have tried almost everything, and nothing has worked so far. I haven't tried reverting to older Catalyst drivers yet, so I will be doing that right now. I'm gonna try Catalyst 9.3 and see if that works. If that doesn't work, I'll try 8.56 like you suggested. |
|
|
Alright, I tried the 9.3 drivers, and they didn't work. I also tried running the game without any drivers at all and still had the same issue. I dunno if that information helps any or not. |
|
|
Not really...about all I got left to say try is those 8.56 drivers and make sure even though you have DirectX 10 on Vista that you download and install the DirectX 9.0c from March...you can have and run both on the same comp since they use different DLLs. |

I just tried those 8.56 drivers. No luck. And as for the DirectX, I already installed the March update a while back. |

That is a bizarre looking screenshot, I'm sorry none of the suggestions here have resolved your issue yet. I use Nvidia, so there isn't anything I can add. Do you have a garbage video card or anything you can throw in your PC to see if get a different result? We want to get this working for you. Even a pretty modest PC can run VG with the settings turned up and still maintain 50-60 fps. |
|
|
Alright, since I was using the trial version, it was using the generic Station Launchpad. I just downloaded the Vanguard Launchpad, and I will now see if that helps any.
And I think this should work, since it's downloading 4 hours worth of stuff that the generic Launchpad didn't download. |

My PC is over 2 years old now. I run many of the settings at max in 2560x1600 resolution and get 50-60 fps. I rebuilt my son's computer for $270 and popped in an extra 8800 gtx. It runs the came with everything at make in 1600x1200 resolution and gets 35-40 fps. My friend as a 4 year old rig, runs everything on balanced and gets 35-40 fps. Or just look at all the posts where people are posting their performance and PC specs. It's pretty evident that a fairly modest PC runs this game well now. The one thing you will see over and over though is the need for a dual core processor and 4 gigs of ram. Both very cheap components now. |

Not yet. After downloading those 4 hours worth of stuff, it started downloading another 8 hours worth. |

Finished downloading everything, still nothing. :/ |
