No, Ambulation is not on the "Test Server" yet.  CCP does, however, have a working version of it up and running on their internal servers and even had a playable version of it at fanfest and in Las Vegas during their meetings there.   While I tend to ignore anything anyone says about Ambulation anymore it does look like they're finally getting closer to releasing it.

But anyone who tells you that it's up on the test server is mistaken.  It's not and CCP hasn't given an indication of when it will be.

Thanks, I always saw ambulation going the same way as atmospheric flight. They had a working demo at Leipzig a few years ago and did all kinds of stuff but it never emerged, and lets face it they'd have to change so much of the game to accomadate it that it's not going to happen. I personally believe that ambulation never was on the cards, but CCP would rather keep those that want it happy. Better to leave a light at the end of the tunnel than nothing at all, that's just my opinion though.

You obviously never read or even watched any of the CCP video footage about the ambulation project. If you had, you would know that the physics and mechanics involved in the system so far has no change what so ever on the current client mechanics. The only thing the expansion will add is, um, ADD content like any expansion. Just because some closet jerks feel threatened by actually socializing with anyone they fear the expansion might hurt their pew pew time. Subscribers of the game should glad of any new content brought to the game because new content usually equals more subscribers which means more features added down the road so everyone wins.

The haters in the EVE community is what is holding it back from being better than it currently is so it would be nice if they got a grip and chilled out. Speaking from personal experience when it comes to CG modeling, it's obvious the examples given in some of the video footage of the ambulation project are not just placeholders, a lot of man hours were put into it so far which is not free. CCP is apparently serious about adding the feature, they are only taking their time to get it right. They took several years to launch EVE to make sure they got it right so no less should be expected for such a feature.

Ambulation just seems super fluffy too me still.... Ultimately- the question for me is that will Ambulation provide a fun new way for me to make ISK? Walking around in stations is cool and all- but there is still a huge game out there beyond this. Staring at other blues, etc will be cool for only so long

That new wargame thingy looks fun maybe people will organize bets on that I hope. It all depends on the players making this thing fun

You can call ambulation 'fluff' all you want.  The bottom line is there is a very large population out there that are looking forward to it and I know many people who won't try EVE till ambulation hits as well.  Whether you personally want it or not it's definitely a worthwhile expansion from a marketting standpoint.

People coming onboard just for this expansion I think will be soon disappointed. Better off waiting for Star Trek MMO which will feature fully developed avatars at launch

I gotta ask- what do people think they going to do with Ambulation? Think bout it- how fun was it in World of Warcraft to just hang out in town all day long? Everyday?

Now take WoW- remove the little bit that made it interesting like staring at some raider's Epic gear. Remove the freedom to duel. Remove the excitement you had from opposite Faction invading your cities and xroads

There- now you have Second Life. A game where you just sit around all day and watch roleplayers do weird stuff

That is what Ambulation will be - a huge chat room

This is why Ambulation is a low priority for the devs. Been in the works forever+++. I can go back a few yrs on this forum and bump some ambulation posts I bet...

edit - I was right: www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/loadNews/9201

they been talking bout this fluffy crap for yrs. Getting tired of hearing bout this vaporware.

I agree with this but I do believe that Ambulation will be more than just fluff. It will be content for the trade people, all the new shops and clothing will just be the start and will be built and expanded upon.

Don't worry about what people think, they rarely do.

A place for recruitment, business dealings between corps, a place to plan OP's and hang out when their over. Something along these lines is what i'm thinking, and I think something like this will add allot to the game. I would call it icing not fluff.

Why would I travel +30 jumps for meeting when I can just invite the person to Ventrillo or simply open convo? ...it's fluff.

You clearly didn't played EvE long / even at all.

I am in 0.0 warfare and gang roams. And we do meet up.. at stations. Not just over vent.

Besides, I prefer walking around in the station abit, instead of spinning ships.

Well at least our war targets will have something to do in station when they decide they don't want to undock against us anymore :)  Anything beats spinning ships in the station window :)

I don't see how some people keep trying to call having legs as fluff??? 98.5% of all mmog's made out there so far have characters with *gasp* legs!  If anything, EVE is behind the ball and just now catching up to the norm.

You're entitled to your opinion but that's all it is, not fact. Ambulation will NOT be a huge chat room. If you like some other misinformed people would actually watch the video presentation by CCP's character artist you would know the purpose of ambulation and no it isn't for to only hang out in a chat room all day. Like I also pointed out earlier, CCP takes their time when developing anything to get it right obviously, they took 4yrs to launch EVE in the first place.

Lol, I was wondering when I was going to hear the top misused term of the year (btw it's spelled vaperware). You might want to go look up the definition again.

No one ever thought what they could do with Ambulation later on? They already showed us spaceships in the atmosphere of the planets. Maybe later we'll even be able to get ON the planets and start claiming them for our corporations/alliances with our avatars. Or even build a corp town for example.

In the end, ambulations opens a lot of new options for the future :)
