I've been tempted to try this game for awhile now,but i have certain concerns seeing how i am not a hardcore player.Slightly interested in some PVP altercations.I love the idea of no classes and no levels.
1.When i first read about this game years ago it said it would cater to everyone from the hardcore to the causal?Seeing the many reviews can someone casually enjoy this game? 2.Since i don't have a ton of time is their mobs i can solo after a hard day at work other then goblins. 3.i don't understand how adding quests would make this game care bearish?Since i love quests in any game. 4.Is getting a group easier in DF then others?Cause when i want a group in other mmo's i can never manage to get into one. 5 When your skill improves does the effectiveness of that skill get a little better ? Or is it like they say that it only gets better at 25,50,75,100? I am somewhat of a carebear, but i am willing to have my ass kicked in a world that seems as free as DF. |

Game is not solo friendly, and is not good for casual players IMO. The PvE needs a lot of work, but they are supposedly looking into it. Maybe once that happens, I would say try it, but right now it's probably not going to fair well with you unless you go in with a lot of friends. |

Man i should make a game, pretend it will be the best thing out there, take 10-12 years to develop it and release it with 1% of what was promises and still get peoples to buy it. Amazing ! |

Very honest reply. I will say that it's not hard to find a Clan as everyone is basically in the same boat so that grouping is pretty natural for this game. |

Don't. I got about a month of beta time and knew then and there that a buying the game would be a waste. Look at the youtube videos and listen to the posters so far. Darkfall isn't very great. At least wait until it's cheaper. $52 is a rip. |

I am somewhat simular type of player myself so let me tell you of my experiences with Darkfall. 1: I'm a casual player but I found a good guild and found myself well able to contribute to both the Guild and the city. Between gathering materials for new buildings or going on "hunt groups" with other players to defending the city from attack I was made feel welcome and a valuable addition to the guild. 2: Honestly I would say no. Once I moved from the starter areas I found mobs because quite difficult, almost impossible to solo. Grouping is the way to go and believe me it's great fun to go on a group "hunt" 3: As stated earlier adding quests aint a problem it's surviving long enough to complete them (unless you do them in a group) 4: I always found getting a group quite easy and the variety of roles I was asked to fill in those groups varied widely. From harvesting materials, to guarding harvesting groups from attack. However as I stated earlier this was all due to my guild I would say that getting a group while not part of a guild might be harder. 5: Each change slightly modifies you chance at success using each skill. When you reach the level milestone (25,50,75,100) you get access to "additional skills" for your main skill. These skills level as well and further improve the characteristics of the primary skill. I never thought I was but I've worked out I am quite a carebear, I like my safe areas and truth is DF doesn't have any. I've been ganked 5M outside the city wall. I've also been part of a guard trying to hunt down a number of players entering the city and killing characters. Darkfall is not a game you can play if you are tired. You must be awake, you must have your wits about you. And most of all you must not get disheartened WHEN you get killed for it shall happen often and from both NPC and Players. Also when you get in game try find yourself a guild as quick as possible for as soon as you take your first steps out of range of the noob town guard tower you WILL be WTFBBQ, this is fact. |

SOLO I have been playing for 3 months now and I do about 95% solo work and I do venture out often to kill mobs. Having said that, it isnt an easy life and it doesnt get you into the seiges part of this game but it is possible. For solo Archery is your friend. does your game have rainbow sprinkles and magic ponies!? |

So basically the only way to solo is kiting a mob with a bow is what your saying seam?
Well,I think you guys are right i will be holding off on this one for awhile. |

1) I'd say yes not easily. Starting out in DF is painfully slow, to an extent I've never seen in any other mmo. 2) There are, but this isn't a solo friendly game and I'd advise you to join a clan ASAP if you plan to keep playing. 3) Fair comment. Remember that the people flinging the carebear insult are generally drooling psychopaths. 4) No. I advise you never to join a group with someone you don't already know. Why? "Friendly" players can kill you without consequence if you're in their group. 5) It does, but at those 25 milestones you see more significant improvements. Numerically, you can eg. see crafting skills getting better as they level (with the increased % chance of success). There are a number of decent players in the game and if you can get into one of those guilds, you may enjoy it. |

Hello there friend! First thing i would say is that i too am a casual player but am now in a clan. I played for a month unclanned and still enjoyed it. The game is based more for a casual player than a hardcore player IMO! Hardcore players to me need hours and gratification, casuals need just to have a bit if fun with not much reward sometimes. That's me! dont need a rewarding item though its great when i get one..i just need to enjoy my hour online. or turn of my PC hating someone, which to me just adds a rush! It's difficult to find a group if not clanned, Dont be fooled friend...no one can be trusted if not clanned! There are plenty of mobs that you can solo if you look that are not goblins friend, orcs, centaurs ( after your first few weeks ) kobolds, trolls and lizardmen. Anyway try it if you think you might like it and good luck! If not then i hope you find what your'e looking for anyway :) |
