Has to be one of the funniest video I've seen yet.  Just so much of the same stuff. Over & over..

I wonder how many of thiose players ever played DAOC..  or other classics?  Because after playing that game, what fun could seiges in Darkfall be..? It's just so contrived and fake...   everyone is doing the exact samething as the person next to them.

There are no roles in this game, its just Lord of the Flies. You don't see assasins, climbing the walls and killing off mages, you don't arachers up in the tree striking down caster up on the walls. It's all the same BS, that we saw in the first weeks of Darkfall. BORING!

Though, for most newbies, I can imagine a battle like that being exciting once or twice, before it gets redundant and boring. But we already played games like this, that were superior to Darkfall (IE: Planetside). Too bad Aventurine attempt at mideivel Planetside was so amature and shoddy.

DAoC is still one of the best imo.  But df brings a type of twich combat along with seiges that make it so fun.  DAoC has more instant action which i liked.  But from a combat perspective df takes the cake

Not very impressive.

Not much variety.

That video was awesome. Reminds me a lot of DAOC, especially all the AE spells at the gate.

DAoC did that better six years ago, so this video isn't much of a selling point for a game that was just released.

But DAOC is dead now and back in the day still couldn't handle much more than 100v100 in a keep siege without severe lag. Also Darkfall is all manually aimed, there is a big difference. Even if it weren't though, surely just being comparable to DAOC but with nice modern graphics is a good thing?

camelotherald.com/news/index.php says no. Have you actually played Darkfall? I think most people who've played it would agree that the screenshots and videos that were released don't do the in-game graphics full justice. With the exception of some of the character models the graphics are generally quite good in my opinion.

First of all nowhere does it say on your link sub numbers. Unless DF has over 50k subs which isn t happening, since a decline has been happening, then no it doesn t have the sub numbers DAOC has worldwide. Have I played DF, hmm lets see, unless you played beta then I can tell you I ve played it alot longer then you. Have I played it recently, yes, and it still looks like crap and plays like crap. Is it my opinion, yes, have yours I could care less, but general concesus is overall the game looks lousy for a 2009 game.

despite the fact that daoc is slowly dying since a few years now - where did you get that number? pulled it out of your ass or did you yet do some xfire research again, mr dirtknap? :)

well at least df managed to get roughly the same subscription number out of 300k interested players in only a few month!

btw, welcome back, we missed you man, it was getting boring since sean left and is now posting on the df boards only. please go ahead and enlighten us. you can post here while macroing fire magic, you know?

currently defending is 3785x5=more then 18k so 10k is alittle off, clueless. The biggest thing is, DAOC is paid for, no development costs and a huge company behind it. DFO has no resources and a decent sized debt to pay off. You do the math.

says 2,514 for me right now.

why do you think daoc has no development costs? nothing could be further from the truth... they have DBAs, serveradmins, GMs, CMs and plenty of others to pay for, and they still have a regular patching cycle so they have fulltime developers too.

Oh, I see. It's okay to have choppy FPS, lame graphics, poorly animated jumping models, 2D graphics, etc., as long as you have manual aiming and twitch combat? Man, companies should've thought of that a long time ago.

I know I'm going to be flamed for this, but even WoW city raids are better. More people, more spell effects, more people jumping around...it's funny. This game could've been good. And as people already mentioned, DAoC is obviously better than this. "More twitchy" combat doesn't justify the rest... for me, anyways.

Ok sure theres some but it s very little. What I m saying is it can go on as is, where DF can t. It needs alot more subs then 15-18k subs. I honestly can t find a link but I read somewhere no too long ago DAOC had 38k subs.

When Aventurine comes out with another, more successful MMO to keep Darkfall running, they'll be on an even plane. Despite what everyone says, WAR has plenty of subs and it can afford to keep both it and DAoC afloat.

Can you provide a source for that.

Why is Javac trolling a bunch of dead threads?
Isn't there a policy against bumping a bunch of threads that no ones posted in for a week or more?

But... You don't. There was a link a few posts back that stated that there were just under 50k active subscribers last year, you are just making random numbers up / blowing them out of your arse.
