What can cause this? I recently disabled some services on my operating system, through the service.msc, are any of these programs nessesairy to make gameguard function, because it seems only gameguard games are crashing instantly. I'm encountering the same issue. The game downloaded perfectly but when I go to launch the game, the splash screen comes up and immediately I get a "GameGaurd Error 114".
I had the same issue when I tried to play Spellborn and I'n not sure how to correct it. |

I've not had the game crash yet and have been playing for months. The only thing sort of what you are talking about (Original poster) was if the game is loading and you click the mouse on the screen sometimes windows will give that message you saw. But I just let it finish loading and the game works fine. Basically don't click the screens or windows will think you are trying to resize the screen or something and will throw up an error. It's a windows problem in other words.

Heya Kvasir_029, what firewall are you running? this is your first port of call.
NCsoft Help forums suggest this:
Most of the issues that we have seen attributed to this error message have been due to a firewall. If you are receiving this error message, we suggest trying the following steps. First, try disabling any and all firewalls that you have running on your machine to see if this alleviates the issue. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 please disable User Account Controls by following these instructions here. If the issue persists, you'll need to adjust your firewall exceptions to allow exceptions for certain game files. Specific instructions for this can typically be found on the respective manufacturers' websites. The process will vary by manufacturer. If you are playing Aion please add these exceptions: AION.bin and GameMon. Des. The default locations for each file are as follows: "C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Aion\bin32\AION.bin" ------------------------------------------ While it is great to switch of your firewall to see if the program works, the easy thing to then do is ignore the fact that that it is off, and play the game, a good idea? not so much..... God only know what other crap you have floating around on your pc ( shareware, p2p or pron site anyone? :), and your ever present firewall may be all that is keeping your pc from giving up it's secrets. So, that being said, try suggestion 1, ( being aware that on several occasions I have shut Comodo firewall down, only to have the service still running and blocking at it's leisure. ) BUT, suggestion 2 (adding the Aion exceptions) is by far the preferred option to running any length of time without a firewall :)
For Zone Alarm Users: A quick point to note, if you are experiencing a strange program freeze on login, and can't ctrl+alt+del or alt+tab, but you still have mouse movement, try changing the program to windowed mode, as there is a third security popup stuck behind the game that you need to allow, which is easy to get to in windowed mode. |
