Dont worry my friends!!! By the time ff14 gets released we all will be tired of aion.. in a year or so. Then when you get tired of ff14 you come back to aion.
If you watch The Karate Kid backwards it's about this karate champ that just kinda slowly becomes a pussy and ends up moving back to Jersey |

FF will be 99% PVE most likely, SE would be crazy not to because that's... "Just what they do". And since aion will be a better part of 75-90% PVP, I think it's safe to say I will play both games for different fun.

Decent PVP? That's like asking santa clause to wear a bikini. The chances are SLIM. SE loves the PVE, and always will. They will probably have a VERY small PVP aspect to the game. But if you think FFXI's balista rocked, then I guess you won't need aion. However if SE doesn't do something really big for PVP, I will be playing aion and FFXIV Remember, with lots of PVP, you lose the "PVE factor" Which SE tries to extend to. That is why they keep PVP to a minumum.

I completely disagree, everyone wants new gear to use in pvp. I would have grinded out so much more gear in 11 if I was doing it for pvp not just for more pve. While I agree that SE trys to keep pvp to a minimum, pvp is still a huge factor to a succesful mmorpg in the industry. I know Square takes pride in thier pve and thier pve junkies, but if Square wants to be more then what FFXI was, I think 14 has a chance to have some more pvp then 11 did. I wouldn't be suprised if they just stayed PvE dominate but I also wouldn't be suprise if they implemened more pvp either. Its a toss up in my eyes but if its a pve dominate I wont be playing for 10 years, maybe 2 or 3 until I do all the pvp content 1-5 times, then i will play aion like you for the pvp and come back to 14 for the new pve they implement.

What happens to a game well known for their great story telling and in this case PvE and they try to go into PvP. They become Age of Conan. Stick to what you do best. NCsoft does PvP, Square does PvE and Funcom should go back to puzzle solving which they are (TSW). Sure NCsoft does a bit of PvE and Square does a bit of PvP but I don't think they should try to become what they are not. Unless they are 110% sure they can pull it off and hire the right people. In the past I really don't care for ported games but I won't dismiss the game because of this, it is after all an FF game. This game may take awhile to launch and i'm not big fan on waiting either. By the time ff14 will have been released, and playable to the masses, a new product by sony will be in the works or on the shelves witch means the ps3 will have to come down in price. MAybee there will be a special with ps3 and ff14 like a package, that would be sweet, with ff14 adapters for us!
